💎 IF YOU HAD A MILLION DOLLARS TO GIVE AWAY, WHO WOULD YOU GIVE IT TO?

If you had a million dollars to give away, who would you give it to?

Text:

“And He said to them, ‘Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.’”

— Luke 12:15 NKJV

If I had a million dollars to give away, I would not rush to name a person, a place, or a project.

My first response would be to ask:

“Lord, what would You have me do with this?”

For a true Christian, generosity is not about the size of the money in your hand but the size of obedience in your heart.

Everything we own—whether a few coins or millions—is a trust from the Lord. We are stewards, not owners.

“The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” — Psalm 24:1 KJV

So if He gives me a million dollars to give away, I would begin by placing it at His feet—because it came from Him and must be directed by Him.

🌿 GOD’S PATTERN FOR GENEROSITY

Throughout Scripture, we see that God blesses us to become a blessing.

“I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.” — Genesis 12:2 NKJV

So, if I had a million dollars to give away, I would want to sow it in ways that carry eternal impact, not just temporary relief.

Here’s the divine pattern the Bible reveals:

1️⃣ FIRST THINGS FIRST — FIRSTFRUITS, TITHES, THEN OFFERINGS

Before any other giving, the divine order is clear:

“Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your increase; then your barns will be abundantly filled and your vats will overflow with new wine.” — Proverbs 3:9–10 AMPC

The firstfruits represent the first and best portion of every increase—it’s an act of honour. It declares that God comes first before self, family, or projects.

After the firstfruits comes the tithe, the sacred tenth that belongs to the Lord.

“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.” — Malachi 3:10 NKJV

Once you have honoured God with your firstfruits and tithes, you are positioned to give offerings and alms—the freewill gifts and acts of mercy that express God’s love to others.

“He who gives to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done.” — Proverbs 19:17 NIV

This divine order ensures that your giving is both recognized in heaven and protected on earth.

2️⃣ GIVE TO GOD’S HOUSE

After the firstfruits and tithes, my next priority would be the advancement of the gospel—strengthening the Church, building souls, and resourcing ministries that disciple believers.

“The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” — Proverbs 11:25 NLT

Giving to the house of God is not a donation—it’s a partnership in eternal work.

3️⃣ GIVE TO THE POOR AND NEEDY

God’s heart beats for the poor, the widowed, and the orphaned.

“Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.” — James 1:27 NKJV

Every seed of compassion sown in Christ’s name becomes a testimony of His love on the earth.

4️⃣ INVEST IN KINGDOM EDUCATION AND DISCIPLESHIP

I would sow into raising godly men and women who can carry the torch of truth for generations to come—through discipleship, digital missions, and Christian education.

“Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever.” — Daniel 12:3 NLT

These are eternal investments—souls that will stand as fruit in your heavenly account.

5️⃣ EMPOWER GOD’S PEOPLE TO FULFIL THEIR CALLINGS

Many destinies remain dormant because of lack of support.

If God gave me a million dollars, I’d empower faithful men and women whose assignments are waiting for provision.

Money in your hand is not just currency—it is Kingdom capital for divine purpose.

🔥 THE HEART BEHIND THE GIVING

Ultimately, the question is not “Who deserves the money?” but “Whose voice am I following?”

The widow who gave two mites gave more than all the rich men because she gave from her heart, not her hand.

(See Mark 12:41–44)

True giving begins where obedience meets compassion.

🌈 FINAL THOUGHT: WHAT IF THE MILLION IS YOUR LIFE?

When you realize that your time, energy, and influence are also resources, you’ll see that every believer already has “a million dollars” to give—through service, prayer, encouragement, and love.

Before the physical wealth comes, start giving what you already have.

Give your time to God, your words to edify, your hands to help, and your life to glorify Christ.

“Freely you have received; freely give.” — Matthew 10:8 NIV

🙏 PRAYER

Lord, make me a wise and faithful steward.

Let my life, my wealth, and my influence serve Your purpose.

Help me to see giving not as loss but as sowing into eternity.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

📖 KEY TAKEAWAYS

• Divine order in giving: Firstfruits → Tithes → Offerings → Alms.

• Giving is a spiritual act of obedience, not an emotional reaction.

• The best giving multiplies souls, disciples, and divine purpose.

• You don’t need a million dollars to make impact—just a willing heart.
