What’s something you used to worry about but don’t anymore?
For me, it was not primarily money, failure, sickness, or what people thought about me.
My deepest worry was this:
Where will I spend eternity when this life is over?
It was not a casual thought. It was a question that followed me quietly.
I knew that life on earth could not be all there was. I knew that one day I would leave this world, stand before God, and give an account of my life. No achievement, possession, title, relationship, or human applause could answer that eternal question for me.
The Bible says:
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” — Hebrews 9:27 (KJV)
That Scripture makes something very clear: death is not the end.
After this life comes eternity.
And eternity is too long to leave to chance.
The Fear Behind the Question
Deep within me, I knew that being morally decent was not enough. Attending church occasionally was not enough. Knowing about God was not the same as knowing God.
I could compare myself with other people and feel good, but other people were not the standard.
God was.
The Bible says:
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” — Romans 3:23 (KJV)
Sin is not only murder, theft, or obvious wickedness. Sin is humanity’s rebellion against God. It is living independently of Him, rejecting His authority, disobeying His Word, and trying to run our lives without our Creator.
Every one of us has sinned.
And sin has consequences.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” — Romans 6:23 (KJV)
That was the reality behind my fear.
The issue was not merely that I would die one day. The issue was whether I was ready to meet God.
Then I Met Jesus Christ
Everything changed when I came to Jesus Christ and became born again.
I discovered that salvation was not something I could earn by trying harder, becoming more religious, or doing enough good works.
Salvation is a gift.
Jesus Christ, the sinless Son of God, came into the world, died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again. He took the punishment that we deserved so that we could receive the life that only He could give.
The Bible says:
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8 (KJV)
Jesus did not wait for me to become perfect before He loved me.
He loved me in my sin.
He died for me when I could not save myself.
He offered me forgiveness, mercy, a new beginning, and eternal life.
When I repented of my sins and placed my faith in Jesus Christ, the question that had troubled me for so long was settled.
I was born again.
What It Means to Be Born Again
Being born again is more than joining a church, adopting Christian language, or trying to behave better.
It is a spiritual transformation.
Jesus said:
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” — John 3:3 (KJV)
To be born again is to receive a new life from God.
It means turning away from sin and turning to Jesus Christ. It means receiving Him as Saviour and submitting to Him as Lord.
The Bible says:
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
When I came to Christ, I did not merely receive a new religion.
I received a new life.
I received forgiveness.
I received peace with God.
I received the assurance of eternal life.
Why I No Longer Worry About Eternity
I no longer worry about where I will spend eternity because my confidence is not in my perfection.
My confidence is in Jesus Christ.
I am not saved because I have never made mistakes. I am saved because Jesus paid the full price for my sins and I have placed my faith in Him.
Jesus said:
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” — John 5:24 (KJV)
What a promise.
The person who believes in Christ has everlasting life.
The believer shall not come into condemnation.
The believer is passed from death unto life.
This is not wishful thinking. It is the promise of God.
The apostle John also wrote:
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” — 1 John 5:13 (KJV)
God does not want us to live in constant uncertainty about eternity.
He wants us to know that eternal life is found in His Son.
The Greatest Peace Is Peace With God
Many people are searching for peace through money, relationships, success, travel, entertainment, or personal achievement.
These things may bring temporary happiness, but none of them can give peace with God.
You may have money and still be afraid to die.
You may be successful and still feel empty.
You may be admired by people and still be unprepared to meet God.
The greatest peace anyone can have is the assurance that their sins have been forgiven and that they belong to Jesus Christ.
The Bible says:
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:” — Romans 5:1 (KJV)
That is the peace I now carry.
It is not the absence of earthly challenges. It is the confidence that whatever happens in this life, my eternity is secure in Christ.
What About You?
Perhaps you also think about eternity.
Perhaps you try to push the thought away because it makes you uncomfortable.
Perhaps you tell yourself that you are a good person, that you attend church, or that God will understand.
But eternity is too important for assumptions.
Jesus said:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” — John 14:6 (KJV)
Jesus did not say He was one of many ways.
He said He is the way.
Salvation is not found in religion, good works, family background, morality, education, or human effort.
Salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone.
The Bible says:
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” — Acts 4:12 (KJV)
You Can Settle the Question of Eternity Today
You do not have to continue living with fear, guilt, or uncertainty.
Jesus Christ is calling you.
He has already paid the price for your salvation. Your response is to repent, believe the gospel, and receive Him.
The Bible says:
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” — Romans 10:9 (KJV)
It also says:
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” — Romans 10:13 (KJV)
Notice the word whosoever.
That includes you.
Your past does not disqualify you.
Your failures do not place you beyond the mercy of God.
Your sins are not greater than the blood of Jesus.
You can come to Him today.
A Prayer to Receive Jesus Christ
This prayer is not a magic formula. Salvation comes through genuine repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Pray sincerely, believing in your heart and surrendering your life to Him:
Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. I believe that You are the Son of God, that You died on the cross for my sins, and that God raised You from the dead.
I repent of my sins and turn away from my old life. Please forgive me, cleanse me, and make me new. I receive You today as my Lord and personal Saviour. Come into my heart, take control of my life, and help me to follow You from this day forward.
Thank You for saving me. Thank You for forgiving my sins. Thank You for giving me eternal life. I declare that I belong to Jesus Christ, and I will live for You by Your grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
What to Do Next
After receiving Christ, begin to grow in your relationship with Him.
Read the Bible daily and obey what God teaches you. Speak to God regularly in prayer. Join a Bible-believing church where Jesus Christ is honoured and the Word of God is faithfully taught. Spend time with mature believers who will encourage you in your new life.
Do not be discouraged if growth takes time. The Christian life is a journey of walking with Jesus, learning His ways, and becoming more like Him.
The God who saved you will also help you grow.
My Answer Today
So, what is something I used to worry about but do not anymore?
I used to worry about where I would spend eternity.
But after meeting Jesus Christ and becoming born again, that fear was replaced with assurance.
I know whom I have believed.
I know that my sins have been forgiven.
I know that Jesus is my Saviour.
I know that eternal life is found in Him.
And when my journey on earth is over, I know that I will be with the Lord.
That is not pride.
That is faith in the promise of God.
The most important question you will ever answer is not, “What will I achieve in life?”
It is this:
Where will I spend eternity?
Do not postpone the answer.
Come to Jesus Christ today.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” — John 3:16 (KJV)
