💻 Your Life Without a Computer: What Does It Look Like?

Your life without a computer: what does it look like?

Have you ever paused to imagine your life without a computer?

No emails.

No spreadsheets.

No internet.

No social media.

For most of us, it feels almost impossible to picture. Our entire work, education, friendships, and even ministries are tied into these glowing screens. But let’s stretch our imagination for a moment — what would life look like without a computer?

1️⃣ A Life Without Constant Noise

Without a computer, the endless stream of notifications, messages, and digital noise would fall silent. You would not be distracted by the buzz of incoming emails or the endless scroll of newsfeeds.

Instead, silence would settle in — and silence is often the very atmosphere where God speaks.

📖 “Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10 KJV)

Could it be that sometimes the constant hum of technology makes us deaf to the whisper of the Holy Spirit?

2️⃣ Rediscovering Face-to-Face Fellowship

Without a computer, you would be forced back into physical interactions. Letters would replace instant messages. Coffee meetings would replace video calls. Church gatherings would mean more than just tuning in online — they would be about being present, seeing tears, holding hands, sharing smiles.

The early church thrived without computers. They didn’t have “Zoom fellowships” or “YouTube livestreams” — yet they turned the world upside down. (Acts 17:6)

What they had was the power of the Holy Spirit, genuine fellowship, and obedience to Christ.

3️⃣ A Return to the Written Word

Imagine opening your Bible instead of opening a browser.

Imagine carrying a notebook and pen instead of a laptop.

Imagine treasuring handwritten letters and journals instead of saved files.

Without a computer, the Word of God would still remain — eternal and unshaken. Jesus declared:

📖 “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” (Matthew 24:35 KJV)

Technology may fail, but God’s Word never does.

4️⃣ Real Productivity Beyond the Screen

We often measure productivity in clicks, documents, and digital deadlines. But without a computer, productivity would look like:

• Visiting someone in need.

• Teaching your children the Word.

• Planting seeds in your garden.

• Sharing the gospel one-on-one.

This is true kingdom productivity: work that echoes in eternity.

📖 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 15:58 KJV)

5️⃣ A Heart Check on Idols

For some of us, losing a computer would feel like losing a lifeline. But that question reveals something deeper: has technology become an idol in our hearts?

God warned Israel repeatedly against trusting in the work of their own hands (Jeremiah 25:7). Today, our “work of hands” might just be microchips and code. If a computer defines our worth, then perhaps it has taken the place of God in our lives.

✨ A Life Centered on God — With or Without Computers

The truth is, God does not need a computer to fulfill His purposes in your life. He does not require Wi-Fi to send His Spirit, nor a power cable to release His anointing.

While computers are useful tools for spreading the gospel, managing life, and staying connected, they must never replace our dependence on Christ.

So if tomorrow, all the screens went dark, would you still walk with God? Would you still pray? Would you still gather with others? Would you still evangelize?

Because ultimately, your destiny is not tied to a device — it’s tied to your Designer.

🔑 Reflection Questions:

1. If your computer (or phone) were taken away, what spiritual habits would you have left?

2. Have you allowed technology to distract you from God’s voice?

3. How can you balance using computers as tools while keeping your heart anchored in Christ?

🙏 Closing Prayer:

Lord, help me never to put my trust in tools, devices, or technology. Teach me to value silence, fellowship, Your Word, and true kingdom work above all else. Whether with or without a computer, let my life glorify You always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
