Embracing Your Divine Calling: The Leader Within You

Do you see yourself as a leader?

In the grand tapestry of life, one question often lingers in our minds: “Do I see myself as a leader?” It’s a question that transcends our daily roles and responsibilities. As Christians, it’s essential to reflect on this inquiry through the lens of our faith, for God’s Word provides profound insights into leadership. Let’s embark on a journey of self-discovery guided by the divine wisdom found in the Bible.

1. The Divine Design of Leadership

From the very beginning, God ordained leadership to maintain order and purpose in His creation. In the book of Genesis, we read, “Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth…'” (Genesis 1:26). God’s design was clear – leadership was part of the divine plan.

2. Leading Others to Greatness

Leadership, in its purest form, is not about power or control; it’s about guiding others to fulfil their God-given potential. The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Philippians, captures this beautifully: “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves” (Philippians 2:3). True leaders uplift and empower those they lead.

3. A Leader’s Joy and Calling

As you contemplate your role as a leader, whether as a father, a pastor, or a manager, remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:16: “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” A leader’s joy lies in witnessing those they lead become the best versions of themselves and accomplish great works.

4. The Heart Cry of Leadership

If you feel a deep calling to lead, recognise it is a divine “heart-cry” planted within you by God. Proverbs 16:9 affirms this: “The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.” Your desire to lead is God’s way of appointing you as a beacon of light, guiding others towards their divine destinies.

5. Embracing Your Leadership

In conclusion, don’t shy away from your leadership potential. God has equipped you with unique gifts, talents, and a heart that longs to see others excel. Embrace this divine calling, and remember the words of Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

In the grand symphony of life, leadership is a sacred melody that harmonises us with God’s purpose. So, as you reflect on your leadership role, may you lead with humility, love, and a deep commitment to helping others realise their divine destinies. In doing so, you become a true leader, shining God’s light into the lives of those you serve.

  1. Your piece reminds me of two great leaders’ statements; the Lord Jesus Christ and John the apostle: Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. John 14:12. And 3John 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
