The Real Jesus: Who He Is and Why You Must Face the Truth About Him

Jesus is not a myth, a mere prophet, a religious reformer, or just a good moral teacher. The real Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, God manifested in the flesh, the Saviour of the world, the only Mediator between God and man, the crucified Lamb, the risen Lord, and the coming King.

Historically, Jesus of Nazareth was born in Bethlehem, raised in Nazareth of Galilee, ministered across Galilee, Judea, Samaria, and Jerusalem, and was crucified in Jerusalem under Pontius Pilate around A.D. 30. Britannica summarises Him as Jesus, born c. 6–4 B.C. in Bethlehem and crucified c. A.D. 30 in Jerusalem, revered by Christians as the Incarnation of God.

Bible dictionaries and concordance tools confirm that the name Jesus means “Jehovah is salvation” or “the Lord saves.” Strong’s Greek Lexicon identifies Iēsous as “Jesus,” meaning “Jehovah is salvation,” and describes Him as “the Son of God, the Saviour of mankind, God incarnate.”   The title Christ is not His surname; it means the Anointed One, the Greek equivalent of Messiah. Easton’s Bible Dictionary states that Jesus the Christ is “the Great Deliverer, the Anointed One, the Saviour of men.”   Strong’s Concordance also records Christos as a major New Testament title used hundreds of times for Jesus.

1. Jesus Is the Eternal Word Made Flesh

John 1:1-5, 14 KJV
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth.”

The real Jesus did not begin in Bethlehem. Bethlehem was His entrance into human flesh, not His beginning. He is eternal.

2. Jesus Is Fully God and Fully Man

1 Timothy 3:16 KJV
“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh.”

Colossians 2:9 KJV
“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”

He slept, ate, wept, walked, and suffered as man; yet He forgave sins, received worship, raised the dead, commanded nature, and conquered death as God.

3. Where Jesus Lived

Jesus was born in Bethlehem.

Matthew 2:1 KJV
“Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king…”

He was raised in Nazareth.

Matthew 2:23 KJV
“And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth.”

He ministered widely in Galilee, Capernaum, Judea, Samaria, and Jerusalem.

Matthew 4:13 KJV
“And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast.”

He died, rose, and ascended after fulfilling His redemptive mission.

4. What Language Did Jesus Speak?

The primary language of ordinary Palestinian Jews in Jesus’ day was Aramaic, and Jesus almost certainly spoke Aramaic. Britannica notes that the primary language of Palestinian Jews was Aramaic, though Greek was also known among merchants and traders.   Scholars widely agree that Jesus spoke Aramaic, and He likely also understood or used Hebrew in synagogue/scriptural settings and Greek in some public interactions.

This matters because Jesus was not a detached religious idea. He entered a real culture, spoke real human language, lived in real geography, and fulfilled real prophecy.

5. Jesus Is the Promised Messiah

Isaiah 9:6 KJV
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder.”

Matthew 1:21 KJV
“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”

John 4:25-26 KJV
“The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.”

Jesus did not merely claim to teach truth. He claimed to be the fulfilment of God’s promise.

6. Jesus Is the Only Way to the Father

John 14:6 KJV
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Acts 4:12 KJV
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

The real Jesus does not allow men to reduce Him to one option among many. He is not a way; He is the Way.

7. Jesus Died for Our Sins and Rose Again

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 KJV
“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”

Romans 5:8 KJV
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

The cross was not an accident. It was God’s redemptive plan.

8. Jesus Is Coming Again

Acts 1:11 KJV
“This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”

Revelation 1:7 KJV
“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him.”

The real Jesus is not still in the manger, not still on the cross, and not still in the grave. He is risen, seated, reigning, interceding, and returning.

The Whole Truth About Jesus

You cannot truly meet Jesus and remain neutral.

He is either rejected or received.
He is either ignored or obeyed.
He is either your Judge or your Saviour.
But He cannot be reduced.

John 20:31 KJV
“But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”

Salvation Prayer

Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God. I believe You died for my sins, You were buried, and You rose again from the dead. I repent of my sins and I receive You today as my Lord and Saviour. Wash me with Your blood, make me a child of God, and help me to follow You all the days of my life. Amen.
