The First Day Heaven Never Forgot: When Beginnings Become Prophetic

Tell us about your first day at something — school, work, as a parent, etc.

The first day always carries weight.

Your first day at school.

Your first day at work.

Your first day as a parent.

You may not remember every detail, but heaven does.

Scripture tells us, “In the beginning God…” (Genesis 1:1). God is deeply invested in beginnings because beginnings set direction. They don’t just start journeys—they prophesy outcomes.

My own first days taught me this truth: you can start something in fear or start it in faith. Many first days come with uncertainty—new environments, unfamiliar faces, heavy responsibility. Like Moses standing before Pharaoh, you feel unqualified. Like Joshua stepping into leadership, you feel the weight of “what if I fail?”

Yet God’s word to Joshua still echoes:

“Be strong and of a good courage… for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).

The difference between a terrifying first day and a triumphant one is who you invite into it.

When God is absent, first days feel like pressure.

When God is present, first days become platforms for grace.

Think of Peter’s first day stepping out of the boat (Matthew 14:29). It looked like risk, but it became revelation. Think of Mary’s first day of motherhood—confusing, costly, misunderstood—yet it birthed redemption for the world (Luke 1:38).

What we call “first day nerves,” God often calls faith in formation.

Your first day may not feel perfect, but if it is yielded to God, it will be purposeful. Zechariah 4:10 reminds us, “Do not despise the day of small beginnings.” God doesn’t need your confidence—He needs your consent.

So whether you’re starting again, starting over, or starting scared—commit the beginning to God. Because when God authors your first day, He guarantees the last chapter.

A Call to Salvation

If you’re beginning something new in life, the greatest beginning you can ever have is with Jesus Christ.

Pray this sincerely:

Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I need You. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I repent and receive You as my Lord and Saviour. Come into my life, forgive me, and give me a new beginning. From today, I follow You. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, welcome to God’s family! 🎉
