Have you ever performed on stage or given a speech?
I have stood on stages. I have held microphones. I have given speeches people applauded.
And I have learned one unforgettable truth: there is a world of difference between speaking in the flesh and ministering by the Spirit.
When it is the flesh, it is self-reliant, self-confident, and self-driven. The words may be polished, the delivery impressive, the response loud—but the impact is often shallow and temporary. “The arm of flesh will fail you” (Jeremiah 17:5).
But when you prepare and then yield, something supernatural happens.
What begins as a stage becomes an altar.
What looks like a speech becomes a divine encounter.
What others call performance becomes a platform for God’s power.
The Holy Spirit takes over what preparation alone could never accomplish. Fear melts into boldness. Weakness turns into authority. Ordinary words begin to pierce hearts. “Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord” (Zechariah 4:6).
Yes, preparation is vital—but preparation without dependence produces noise. Preparation surrendered to God produces life. Paul understood this when he said, “My speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power” (1 Corinthians 2:4).
I have felt it—being carried on the wings of grace. Moments where I knew this was no longer me. Heaven had stepped in. Lives were being touched far beyond my notes or intentions.
So if God ever gives you a microphone, a stage, a classroom, a meeting, or even a conversation—don’t aim to impress. Aim to be yielded.
Because when God takes the stage, hearts are never the same.
