Which Book Are You Reading Right Now? My Answer: The Bible

What book are you reading right now?

Whenever someone asks, “What book are you reading right now?” my answer, without hesitation, is the Bible. Not because I lack other books to read or because I don’t value the wisdom found in other texts, but because the Bible is not just another book. It is the living, breathing Word of God—my ultimate guide, anchor, and source of inspiration.

Why I Read the Bible More Than Any Other Book

1. It Speaks to Every Situation

Unlike any other book, the Bible has an answer for every season of life—joy, sorrow, confusion, or triumph. Whether I’m looking for encouragement, direction, or correction, I find that God’s Word meets me exactly where I am. Hebrews 4:12 reminds us that “the Word of God is alive and active,” and that’s exactly what it feels like when I read it.

2. It Shapes My Perspective

In a world where opinions and ideologies change like shifting sands, the Bible offers unchanging truth. It shapes my worldview, aligns my thinking with God’s, and helps me navigate life with wisdom and clarity. The psalmist wrote, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105). For me, the Bible doesn’t just provide knowledge—it provides clarity in a world full of noise.

3. It’s a Daily Need, Not a Casual Read

Reading the Bible isn’t a pastime for me; it’s spiritual nourishment. Just as my physical body needs food daily, my spirit needs the sustenance that only the Word of God can provide. Jesus said in Matthew 4:4, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” My hunger for God’s Word isn’t something that can be replaced by any other book—it’s essential for my growth and walk with Him.

4. It Deepens My Relationship With God

The Bible is not just a book to study—it’s a book that brings me closer to the Author. Through its pages, I hear God’s heart, His promises, and His plans for my life. Each time I read, I feel His presence and grow in intimacy with Him. It’s not about checking off a task on a to-do list; it’s about communing with the Creator of the universe.

Other Books Have Their Place, But the Bible Stands Alone

I enjoy reading other books—whether it’s Christian literature, biographies, or thought-provoking novels. They enrich my understanding, broaden my perspective, and sometimes provide great insights. But no matter how powerful or inspiring these books are, they pale in comparison to the timeless, eternal truths of Scripture.

Every book I read is filtered through the lens of the Bible. It is the standard against which I measure everything. It’s not just another book on my reading list—it is the foundation of my life.

A Challenge to You

If you haven’t already made the Bible your go-to book, I want to challenge you today: dive in. Whether you start with the Psalms, the Gospels, or anywhere else, approach it with an open heart and a hunger to know God more. Ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to the treasures hidden within its pages.

You’ll discover that it’s more than a book—it’s a lifeline, a love letter from God, and a map to navigate the journey of life.

So, when someone asks me, “What book are you reading right now?” my answer will always be the same: the Bible.

What about you?
