The Divinely Directed Life

What gives you direction in life?

As a Christian, I find my direction and purpose through the Word of God and the Spirit of God. The Bible is the living and active word of God that provides me with guidance, wisdom, and understanding. The Holy Spirit is the presence of God within me, who guides me in all my decisions and leads me in the path of righteousness.

By relying on the Word of God and the Spirit of God, we can trust that our steps are guided, and our hearts are aligned with God’s will.

The Word of God:

• “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

• “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” (Psalm 119:105)

• “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.” (Isaiah 40:8)

• “Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” (Joshua 1:8)

The Bible is the inspired word of God, and it contains all the information I need to live a life that is pleasing to Him. The Bible teaches me about the character of God, His plan for my life, and how to live a life that is pleasing to Him. The Word of God is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105), guiding me through the darkness of this world. It provides comfort in times of trouble and gives me hope for the future. The Bible also teaches me how to treat others with love and kindness and forgive those who wronged me.

The Spirit of God:

• “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” (John 14:26)

• “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” (Romans 8:14)

• “The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” (Romans 8:26)

• “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, and He is the presence of God within me. The Holy Spirit guides me in all my decisions and leads me in the path of righteousness. The Holy Spirit also teaches me and reminds me of the things that Jesus taught (John 14:26), and He helps me to understand the Word of God. The Holy Spirit is my comforter, my counselor, and my leader.

Combining the Word of God and the Spirit of God:

• “But the person who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him.” (1 Corinthians 6:17)

• “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)

• “May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 15:5-6)

When I combine the Word of God and the Spirit of God, I receive a double portion of guidance and direction. The Word of God gives me the principles, and the Spirit of God gives me the power to live according to those principles. As I read the Word of God, the Holy Spirit brings to mind the things that I need to apply in my life. The Holy Spirit helps me to understand the Word of God, and He reveals things to me that I might not have seen before.

Conclusion:

As a Christian, the Word and the Spirit of God are essential to my life. The Word of God provides me with guidance, wisdom, and understanding, while the Holy Spirit guides me in all my decisions and leads me in the path of righteousness. Together, they give me direction and purpose in life. As I read the Word of God and walk in the Spirit, I know I will continue to grow in my relationship with God and become more like Him.
