What Does It Mean To Be Born Again?

Being born again and receiving salvation is a fundamental concept in Christianity. It is becoming a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) and receiving eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. In John 3:3, Jesus told Nicodemus, “I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that unless a person is born again (anew, from above), he cannot ever see (know, be acquainted with, and experience) the kingdom of God.” This verse emphasises the importance of being born again to enter the kingdom of God.

“What is born of [from] the flesh is flesh [of the physical is physical]; and what is born of the Spirit is spirit.” (John 3:6 AMPC)

Being born again is not a physical rebirth but a spiritual one. A transformation of the heart and mind occurs when a person receives Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. 2 Corinthians 5:17 say, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” This verse highlights the idea that when a person becomes a Christian, they become a new creation in Christ.

Salvation is the result of being born again. It is the process of being saved from sin and death and receive eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12 says, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” This verse emphasises that salvation is only found through faith in Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works so that no one can boast.” This verse highlights that salvation is a gift from God received through faith in Jesus Christ, not by any good deeds or works we may do.

Being born again and receiving salvation is essential to living a fulfilled life in Christ. Through this process, we become new creations in Christ and are saved from sin and death. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” This verse emphasises that God’s love for us is so great that He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ so that we may have eternal life through faith in Him.

In conclusion, being born again and receiving salvation is a fundamental concept in Christianity. It is becoming a new creation in Christ and receiving eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. John 3:3 highlights the importance of being born again to enter the kingdom of God. Salvation is only found through faith in Jesus Christ, and it is a gift from God that good works cannot earn. By receiving Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we become new creations in Christ and are saved from sin and death.

Father, I come to you in the Name of Jesus. I know that I’m a sinner and cannot save myself. But Jesus died for me; He shed His blood that I might be saved; today, I accept Jesus as my personal Lord and saviour; forgive me all my sins, wash me with your blood and make me whole. I forsake the devil, the world and all sinful habits; I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Father, I thank you because you have saved me in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Congratulations if you prayed that prayer.
