Who are you going to listen to?
1 Peter 5:8 AMPC
“Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.”
God says, “You can, despite what has been done!” The enemy says, “You can’t go on because of what you have done!”
What is dominating your mind?
Whether it is the good, bad, or ugly that dominates your mind up until now, it is Satan’s goal to keep you chained there.
God will never define you by your past issues, but the enemy will try to confine you.
Never let your yesterday keep you from your tomorrow. Learn from yesterday, but don’t live in it.
Always remember that Satan’s number one strategy is to plant unhealthy thoughts in your mind, repeating them over and over until you start to think they are your own thoughts.
Genesis 3:5 AMPC
“For God knows that in the day you eat of it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing the difference between good and evil and blessing and calamity.”
Isaiah 14:14 AMPC
“I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.”
When Satan told Eve she would be like God if she ate of the fruit, whose thought was that? That thought came straight from Satan himself. In fact, he’d had the same thought before, as we read in Isaiah 14:14: “I will make myself like the Most High.” It was Satan’s thought, but he planted it in Eve’s mind.
So, be mindful of the devil. Don’t let him have free reign in your mind.
Romans 12:2 AMPC
“Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].”
When you tell yourself, I can’t overcome this addiction, whose thought is that?
Or when you think, I have to have this drink, whose thought is that?
Or when you entertain such thoughts as, I am nothing. I have no value. I don’t have power over my emotions of lust or anger; who is doing the talking?
We know these thoughts come from Satan because they are all lies, and he is the father of lies.
John 8:44b NLT
“…He has always hated the truth because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
One reason Satan’s strongholds are so powerful is that they become entrenched. This happens when Satan can get you to buy into the lie that your situation is hopeless.
His goal is to get you to believe that by nature you are failure or a manipulator or a negative person, that you are controlled by fear or shame, that nothing will ever change, and so on. Once you give in to and adopt this line of thinking, these fortresses become difficult to remove. Your behavior deteriorates even more since all of us act according to who we believe we are.
Proverbs 23:7a KJV
“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he”
Satan makes quick work of planting thoughts and directing them. But his thoughts do not have to have the last word. Let God’s word be first and last in your life. The word of God has instructed you on what you should think on in Philippians 4:8.
Philippians 4:8 KJV
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
You must reject every contrary thought by verbalising what God says. If Satan plants the wrong thought in your mind, cancel it by declaring what God says.
2 Corinthians 4:13 TPT
“We have the same Spirit of faith that is described in the Scriptures when it says, “First I believed, then I spoke in faith.” So we also first believe then speak in faith.”
2 Corinthians 10:5 KJV
“casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”
If you allow Satan free reign of your mind, he will get into your actions eventually. Please don’t give him that allowance. Bring every one of your thoughts to the obedience of the Word of God.
John 8:32 KJV
“and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
