You’re writing your autobiography. What’s your opening sentence?
Opening Sentence of My Autobiography
“Before I understood my name, mercy had already written my story.”

Every life has a beginning, but not every beginning explains the story that follows.
Some people are born into advantage.
Some into difficulty.
Some into battles they did not choose.
Yet the mystery of the Christian life is this: your story did not begin the day you were born.
It began in the mind of God.
Your Life Was Written Before It Was Lived
The Bible reveals something profound about our lives.
Psalm 139:16 (KJV)
“Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.”
Before you took your first breath, heaven already knew your chapters.
Before your enemies appeared, God already prepared your deliverance.
Before your struggles surfaced, your victory had already been written.
Many people think their story is defined by their past mistakes, family background, or current circumstances.
But God writes differently.
He writes redemption where there was failure.
Purpose where there was confusion.
Destiny where there was delay.
The Devil Tries to Rewrite What God Already Wrote
One of Satan’s greatest strategies is to convince people that their life story is already ruined.
He whispers:
“You started wrong.”
“You made too many mistakes.”
“You missed your chance.”
“It’s too late now.”
But the devil cannot cancel what God has written.
Isaiah 54:17 (KJV)
“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn.”
The enemy may attempt to edit your story, but he cannot erase God’s authorship.
What God begins, He finishes.
Jesus Is the Author and Finisher
The greatest truth of the Christian life is that Jesus Himself is the author of our story.
Hebrews 12:2 (KJV)
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.”
Think about that.
The One who started the universe also writes the story of your faith.
That means:
Your failures are not the final chapter. Your struggles are not the end of the story. Your delays are not the conclusion.
God always writes resurrection after crucifixion.
Your Story Is Still Being Written
Some people think their life story is already finished.
But as long as you are breathing, God is still writing.
Joseph went from prison to palace.
David went from shepherd to king.
Peter went from denial to apostolic authority.
Your present situation may look like a chapter of struggle, but heaven knows it is only a paragraph in a much bigger story.
But There Is One Thing That Determines Your Story
Your life story truly begins the day you surrender it to Christ.
Without Jesus, a person may live many chapters, but the eternal story never begins.
The Bible says:
2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
Salvation is the moment God rewrites your identity.
Your past no longer defines you.
Your destiny begins.
Salvation Prayer
If you have never given your life to Jesus Christ, this is the moment your real story can begin.
Pray sincerely:
“Lord Jesus, I come to You today.
I confess that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself.
I believe You died for my sins and rose again for my salvation.
Today I surrender my life to You.
Forgive my sins, cleanse my heart, and make me a new creation.
From today, You are my Lord and my Saviour.
Write my story according to Your purpose.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
If you prayed that prayer sincerely, your story has just begun.

Final Thought
If I were writing my autobiography, the first sentence would still be the same:
“Before I understood my name, mercy had already written my story.”
And if you belong to Christ, the same is true for you.
Your story did not begin in weakness.
It began in God.
