When God Grows You Beyond Yesterday

Are there any activities or hobbies you’ve outgrown or lost interest in over time?

Almost everyone can answer “yes.” Things that once excited us sometimes lose their hold—not because they were wrong, but because we have grown. Spiritually, this is one of the clearest signs that God is actively working in our lives.

The Bible shows that growth often requires leaving certain things behind.

“When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.” (1 Corinthians 13:11, KJV)

This scripture is not only about physical maturity; it also reveals the law of spiritual progress. As God enlarges your vision, purifies your desires, and deepens your calling, some interests naturally fade. What once entertained you may no longer satisfy you. What once occupied your time may now feel empty because God is redirecting your appetite toward purpose.

Sometimes believers feel guilty when they lose interest in certain hobbies, friendships, or pursuits. But not every loss is a setback—some losses are evidence of elevation. God does not only change what you do; He changes what you desire. The Spirit of God gently reshapes your preferences so that your life aligns with your destiny.

Paul expressed this transformation clearly:

“But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.” (Philippians 3:7, KJV)

He did not merely abandon activities; he discovered something greater that made the former things less important.

This is the key truth: You do not outgrow things accidentally; you outgrow them because God is growing you intentionally.

If you notice that certain activities no longer hold your heart, ask the Lord what He is replacing them with. Growth in Christ is never subtraction without divine addition.

God removes what is smaller so He can entrust you with what is greater—greater purpose, deeper fellowship, stronger impact, and eternal rewards.

So do not fear change. Celebrate it.

Every holy loss is making room for a higher calling.

Prayer:

Lord, help me recognize the seasons of my life and give me grace to release what no longer aligns with Your purpose. Replace every fading interest with a stronger hunger for Your will, Your presence, and the assignment You have prepared for me. Amen.

Salvation Invitation

No matter how far life has taken you, God’s love is still reaching for you. Spiritual growth begins with one life-changing decision—receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. The Bible says:

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

Salvation is not earned by works; it is a gift received by faith. If you sense God drawing your heart today, do not delay. This is your moment to begin a new life in Christ.

Prayer of Salvation

Pray sincerely:

“Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I confess that I am a sinner, and I believe that You died for my sins and rose again for my salvation. Today I repent of my sins and receive You into my heart as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You for forgiving me, cleansing me, and making me a child of God. From today, I will live for You. Amen.”

If you just prayed this prayer, congratulations—your new life in Christ has begun! Grow in your faith by studying the Word of God, praying daily, and fellowshipping with believers.
