GOD CAN OPEN YOUR EYES TO THE SOLUTION

“Then God opened Hagar’s eyes, and she saw a well full of water. She quickly filled her water container and gave the boy a drink.”

Genesis 21:19 (NLT)

There are moments in life when everything looks finished. Moments when the pathway appears blocked, resources seem exhausted, and hope feels buried beneath disappointment. In those seasons, many conclude: “This is the end.” Others give up, believing there is no way out.

Yet Scripture repeatedly reveals that what looks like an end to us is often only a turning point in God’s plan.

Hagar’s Moment of Despair

In Genesis 21, Hagar and her son Ishmael were in the wilderness—alone, abandoned, thirsty, and dying. She had run out of water and placed her son under a bush because she could not bear to watch him die. The Bible says she lifted her voice and wept.

At that moment, Hagar was convinced that all options were exhausted. To her, the situation was final.

But God had not finished speaking.

The Well Was Already There

Verse 19 tells us something powerful:

God did not create a new well — He opened her eyes to see the one that already existed.

This is profound.

The provision was present all along. The solution was within reach. But grief, fear, and hopelessness had blinded her to it.

Many people are like Hagar today. The answer is near, but their eyes are closed by:

Pain

Past disappointments

Rejection

Fear of failure

Emotional exhaustion

Spiritual discouragement

They assume God is silent when, in reality, they simply cannot yet see what He has already prepared.

What Does It Mean for God to Open Your Eyes?

When God opens your eyes, several things happen:

Your perspective changes

You move from panic to clarity, from confusion to insight.

You begin to see possibilities instead of problems

What looked impossible suddenly becomes workable.

You discover that provision was always nearby

Many breakthroughs are not about God adding something new, but about Him revealing what has been hidden.

You regain strength to act Hagar didn’t just see the well—she acted. She filled her container and saved her son.

Revelation leads to responsibility.

Why People Give Up Too Early

Many quit not because God failed them, but because they stopped waiting long enough for their eyes to be opened.

Some give up:

Before the breakthrough conversation

Before the divine connection

Before the moment of clarity

Before the strategic instruction

Before the hidden door becomes visible

They walk away believing nothing exists, when in truth, a well is only a few steps away.

A Prayerful Posture to See What God Sees

If you want God to open your eyes, you must cultivate three things:

Dependence on God, not panic Fear clouds vision; faith clears it.

Stillness before Him In chaos, we miss what God is showing.

To a listening heart God often reveals through His Word, wise counsel, or quiet conviction.

Encouragement to the Reader

If you feel stranded in your own wilderness today, remember Hagar.

Your well may already be there.

Your way out may already exist.

Your next step may already be prepared.

Ask God to open your eyes.

And when He does—act quickly, just as Hagar did.

Your survival, restoration, and testimony may depend on it.

Pray This Prayer: “Lord, Open My Eyes”

Heavenly Father,

God of provision, God of mercy, and God of revelation,

I come before You today in humility and faith.

You are the One who sees what I cannot see,

You know what I do not yet understand,

And You have already prepared what I have not yet discovered.

Lord, just as You opened Hagar’s eyes in the wilderness,

I ask that You open my eyes today.

Remove every veil of fear, despair, and confusion that blinds my vision.

Where pain has clouded my sight, heal me.

Where disappointment has limited my expectation, restore my hope.

Where anxiety has made me overlook Your provision, grant me peace.

Father, help me to see the well You have already placed around me.

Help me to recognise the doors You have already opened.

Help me to discern the helpers You have already assigned to me.

Let Your Spirit give me spiritual clarity, wisdom, and insight.

Teach me not to give up when the path looks dry,

And not to assume the journey is finished when it feels hard.

Open my eyes, O Lord,

To see Your hand at work in my life,

To perceive Your solutions in my challenges,

And to trust Your timing even when I do not understand it.

I refuse hopelessness.

I reject despair.

I choose faith in Your unfailing goodness.

Thank You because my provision is near,

My breakthrough is prepared,

And my testimony is already being written.

In Jesus’ mighty name,

Amen.
