Life is not random. What you are now—your victories, your challenges, your level of growth, your spiritual strength or weakness—is not an accident. It is the product of activities and inactivities, decisions and indecision, faith and the lack of it, obedience and disobedience.
The Bible makes this clear:
“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” — Galatians 6:7 (NIV)

Every day, knowingly or unknowingly, we are sowing seeds with our actions, our words, and even our silence. Those seeds are shaping the harvest of our lives.
1. Activities and Inactivities
The things you have consistently done—prayer, study, service, discipline—have built your current reality. The things you refused to do, delayed doing, or neglected also left their mark.
Think of David. While his brothers were busy on the battlefield, he was faithfully tending sheep and practicing with a sling (1 Samuel 17:34–37). That “hidden” activity prepared him for Goliath.
On the other hand, consider the servant in Jesus’ parable who buried his talent (Matthew 25:24–30). His inactivity cost him everything.
Your current life is a mirror of what you have done and what you have left undone.
2. Decisions and Indecision
Life moves forward on the wheels of decisions. Joshua challenged Israel with this truth:
“Choose you this day whom ye will serve… but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” — Joshua 24:15 (KJV)
Indecision is still a decision—usually a costly one. Many destinies have been delayed not because of outright rebellion, but because of endless hesitation.
Ruth decided to follow Naomi and serve Naomi’s God, and that decision changed her lineage forever (Ruth 1:16–17). Lot’s wife hesitated at the moment of deliverance, and she became a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:26).
Where you are today is the echo of yesterday’s choices.
3. Faith and Lack of Faith
Faith opens doors that fear cannot even knock on. Hebrews 11 shows us men and women who “through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises” (Hebrews 11:33 KJV).
But the children of Israel, though delivered from Egypt, perished in the wilderness because of unbelief (Hebrews 3:19). The same God who split the Red Sea for them was ready to give them the Promised Land, but they lacked the faith to enter.
Your faith today determines your testimony tomorrow.
4. Obedience and Disobedience
Obedience is the highest proof of love for God. Jesus said:
“If you love me, keep my commandments.” — John 14:15 (KJV)
Saul disobeyed God in 1 Samuel 15, sparing what God commanded to be destroyed. His throne was stripped from him. Meanwhile, Abraham obeyed God’s radical instruction to sacrifice Isaac, and his obedience unlocked generational blessing (Genesis 22:16–18).
Where you stand today is a result of obedience you embraced—or disobedience you tolerated.
A Call to Reflection
Beloved, if you take a deep look at your current reality, you will see traces of all these: what you did, what you avoided, what you decided, where you hesitated, how you believed, and where you doubted.
The good news is this: God’s mercy gives us a fresh page every day. Yesterday’s choices brought you here, but today’s choices can take you somewhere better.
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” — Lamentations 3:22–23 (NIV)
A Way Forward
1. Examine your life honestly. Ask: What have I been sowing through my actions and inactions?
2. Decide for God daily. Don’t procrastinate obedience.
3. Feed your faith. Stay in the Word, surround yourself with believers, and step out on God’s promises.
4. Walk in obedience. Even when it is costly, choose obedience over convenience.
Closing Prayer
Lord, I thank You for the reminder that my present is shaped by my choices. I repent of indecision, unbelief, and disobedience. By Your Spirit, empower me to make decisions of faith and obedience that will align me with Your perfect will. From today, let my life reflect the fruits of godly activities, bold faith, and unwavering obedience. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
