The Call and Power of True Intercession

1. The Danger of an Unsaved Life: Open Door to Possession

The Bible makes it clear that anyone who is not saved through Jesus Christ is vulnerable to demonic possession. Jesus taught:

“When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first.” (Matthew 12:43–45, NKJV)

An unsaved soul is an empty house, unoccupied by the Holy Spirit, making them a legal ground for demonic influence and control. This truth should stir believers to intercede urgently for the salvation of the lost. Salvation is not a suggestion—it is protection.

2. The Power of Praying God’s Interests

Intercession is not about personal agendas; it is about aligning with God’s will. The more a believer prays about what God is already interested in—His Kingdom, His people, His purposes—the more Heaven acknowledges that voice.

Jesus Himself taught us to pray:

“Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:10, NKJV)

The more we echo God’s heartbeat in prayer, the more our authority in the spirit realm is strengthened. Heaven responds quickly to voices that harmonize with God’s eternal agenda.

3. Intercessors Stand Between the Dead and the Living

One of the clearest pictures of intercession in Scripture is found in the ministry of Moses and Aaron:

“Then Aaron took it as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the assembly; and already the plague had begun among the people. So he put in the incense and made atonement for the people. And he stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped.” (Numbers 16:47–48, NKJV)

This is what intercessors do—they stand in the gap (Ezekiel 22:30). Through prayer, they hold back destruction, rescue the perishing, and enforce God’s mercy in situations where judgment should prevail.

4. Intercessors as Watchmen

The role of a watchman is both prophetic and preventive. God told Ezekiel:

“Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me.” (Ezekiel 3:17, NKJV)

Intercessors function as spiritual watchmen:

• Early Warning – They sense the enemy’s schemes before they manifest.

• Early Interception – They cut off satanic plans before they gain ground.

• Enforcing the Will of God – They declare Heaven’s verdict until it manifests on earth.

• Interrupting Satan’s Works – They frustrate demonic operations through prevailing prayer.

5. Partnership with God Through Intercession

Prayer is not one-sided. Intercessors labor with God, but God also labors with them. Paul wrote:

“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” (Romans 8:26, NKJV)

Here, “helps” (Greek: synantilambanomai) means “to take hold together with against.” The Holy Spirit takes hold with the intercessor, strengthening their prayers, aligning them with God’s will, and accelerating the response from Heaven.

Intercession is not merely human effort—it is divine partnership. God commits His power to the prayers of men and women who yield to His Spirit.

Conclusion: The High Calling of an Intercessor

To intercede is to step into a sacred partnership with God. It is to stand between life and death, mercy and judgment, Heaven’s will and hell’s agenda. Those who answer this call become recognized voices in Heaven, carriers of authority on earth, and interrupters of satan’s operations.

If you are saved, Spirit-filled, and willing, God is calling you higher into the ministry of intercession. This is not for a select few—it is for every believer who wants to see God’s Kingdom come and His will done on earth.

✝️ Prayer Response:

Lord, thank You for the privilege of salvation. Fill me afresh with Your Spirit and make me an effective intercessor. Teach me to pray Your will, to stand in the gap for others, and to labor with You in bringing Your Kingdom purposes to pass. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
