“But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” – Joshua 24:15 (KJV)
”…in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;” – Philippians 2:15 (KJV)
We are raising children in a generation where wrong is celebrated as right, truth is labeled as hate, and godliness is ridiculed. The digital world is filled with distractions, the culture is increasingly hostile to biblical values, and ungodliness is normalized on every side. Yet God still expects parents to stand as lights, raise godly seed, and disciple children for His Kingdom.
This is not the time to parent passively. It is the time to parent purposefully, prophetically, and prayerfully.
1. The Mandate Hasn’t Changed
God’s standard for parenting did not shift with the culture.
Deuteronomy 6:6–7 says:
“And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children…”
God still holds parents accountable for training their children in righteousness. The world may change, but God’s Word is unchanging.
2. What Makes This Age Ungodly?
We are witnessing the fulfillment of 2 Timothy 3:1–5:
”…men shall be lovers of their own selves… disobedient to parents… lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God…”
This generation is saturated with:
• Moral relativism – “Your truth is your truth”
• Sexual confusion and perversion
• Widespread rebellion against authority
• Addiction to technology and social media
• Entertainment that mocks godliness
• Anti-family and anti-parent ideologies
Yet in the midst of all this, God is still looking for Noahs—parents who will build arks of preservation for their children in the flood of corruption (Genesis 6:9, 18).
3. What Does Godly Parenting Look Like Today?
🔹 1. Be a Living Example
Children don’t follow instructions—they follow examples. Let them see you love God, honour His Word, serve in church, walk in purity, and live with integrity.
Paul said in 1 Corinthians 11:1:
“Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.”
🔹 2. Build a Word-Based Home
Let the Bible—not social media—be your parenting manual.
Teach your children God’s Word daily, not just on Sundays.
Joshua 1:8 and Psalm 119:9 teach that the Word is the path to prosperity and purity. Let your home echo the Word of God.
🔹 3. Prioritize Prayer and the Presence of God
Let your children grow up seeing prayer as normal and powerful. Make your home a place where the Holy Spirit is welcome.
They should grow up knowing: “In this house, we talk to God before we talk to anyone else.”
🔹 4. Guard Their Gates (Eyes, Ears, Hearts)
Monitor and prayerfully filter what they watch, read, and hear.
Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
Don’t hand them over to the media. Take charge.
🔹 5. Train, Don’t Entertain
Don’t fall into the trap of pleasing your children at the expense of their future.
Proverbs 29:15 says, “…a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.”
Discipline, correction, and structure are godly tools—not abuse, but intentional training in righteousness (Hebrews 12:6–11).
🔹 6. Pray Prophetic Prayers Over Them
Every day, declare God’s promises over your children. Let them hear words like:
“You are a child of God.”
“You will fulfill your purpose.”
“You are light in the darkness.”
“You will not be swallowed by this age.”
4. You Are Raising God’s Battle Axes
Jeremiah 51:20 – “Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war…”
You are not just raising boys and girls—you are raising soldiers, revivalists, reformers, kingdom financiers, apostles, prophets, and worship warriors. Don’t parent casually. Parent prophetically.
Like Moses’ parents, let your eyes see that your child is “no ordinary child” (Hebrews 11:23 NIV).
🛐 A Prayer for Parents
Father, thank You for the privilege to raise godly seed in this generation. Grant us wisdom, discernment, and boldness to lead our homes in righteousness. Help us to protect, disciple, and empower our children to shine as lights in this crooked generation. We receive grace to stand, build, and pass on a lasting godly legacy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
