What strategies do you use to maintain your health and well-being?
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”
— 3 John 1:2 (NKJV)
As believers, we are stewards—not only of our time, talents, and treasures—but also of our bodies. God designed us to live in divine health, full of strength to fulfil His purpose for our lives. But in the hustle and distractions of daily life, how do we intentionally maintain our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being?
Here are some biblical strategies I personally use, and you can apply too:
1. Prioritise Spiritual Nourishment First 🕊️📖
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
— Matthew 4:4 (NKJV)
Just like our physical bodies need food, our spirit needs daily nourishment. I start my day with prayer, worship, and scripture—not as a ritual, but to align my heart with God. Peace, clarity, and strength flow when your inner man is strong.
Tip: Even 10 minutes of quiet devotion before the rush of the day can reset your entire outlook.
2. Honour the Temple of the Holy Spirit 🏃♂️🥗
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit…?”
— 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
I’ve learned to view healthy eating, regular movement, and good sleep not as vain pursuits, but as acts of worship. When I take care of my body, I’m honouring the God who dwells in me. This includes:
• Eating whole, nourishing foods 🌽
• Staying hydrated 💧
• Taking walks or stretching daily 🧘🏽♀️
• Getting enough sleep 😴
Your health habits are your seeds—what you plant today, you’ll harvest tomorrow.
3. Protect Your Peace and Mental Health 🧠🌼
“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You.”
— Isaiah 26:3
Stress and anxiety are silent thieves. That’s why I guard my peace by:
• Limiting negativity (social media, toxic conversations)
• Decluttering my mind through journaling
• Spending time with uplifting people
• Saying no when my plate is full
Mental health matters to God. Your mind is not a battleground—it’s a garden. Tend it well.
4. Practice Sabbath Rest and Joyful Living 🌞🎶
“Six days you shall labor and do all your work… but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God.”
— Exodus 20:9–10
I used to feel guilty for resting. But rest is biblical. Now I intentionally unplug, enjoy nature, laugh, sing, and spend time with loved ones.
Joy and laughter are healing!
“A merry heart does good, like medicine…” — Proverbs 17:22
5. Stay Connected to the Body of Christ 🙏🏽💒
Health is not only personal—it’s communal. Regular fellowship, accountability, and service keep my spirit and emotions thriving.
Don’t isolate when you’re tired—connect, pray, and let others pour into you.

Final Thought:
Jesus came that we may have life, and have it more abundantly (John 10:10). That includes abundant health—spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
You may not be perfect, but you can be intentional. And God will supply the grace to keep growing stronger.
🔄 Reflection:
What one change can you start making today for your health—spirit, soul, or body?
✨ Call to Action:
Take a moment now to commit your health journey to God. Ask Him to give you wisdom, grace, and consistency. Then pick one area (prayer, food, rest, exercise, joy, or community) and take a step forward this week.
You’re not just trying to “stay fit”—you’re becoming a vessel fit for the Master’s use 💪🏾🕊️
