🔥 WEARINESS: A SPIRIT THE CHILD OF GOD MUST NOT COME UNDER

🔹 I. DEFINITION AND MEANING OF WEARINESS

Biblical Definition of Weariness:

• Weariness in the Bible refers to a state of exhaustion—physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually.

• It is more than tiredness; it is a loss of strength, passion, persistence, or faith due to prolonged struggle, disappointment, or delay.

Hebrew Words for Weariness:

• Yaga – to toil to the point of exhaustion (Isaiah 40:30)

• La’ah – to be faint, tired, or discouraged (Jeremiah 31:25)

Greek Word:

• Kamno – to grow weary, to faint under trials (Hebrews 12:3)

• Ekkakeo – to lose heart, give up (Galatians 6:9; 2 Corinthians 4:1)

🔹 II. WHY WEARINESS IS A SPIRIT

đź“– Hebrews 12:3 (KJV):

“For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.”

• The Bible speaks of being wearied in the mind—that means the battle begins internally.

• Weariness is a spirit that targets your soul and mind, weakening your spiritual resolve and making you vulnerable to quitting.

đź“– Isaiah 61:3 (KJV):

“…the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness…”

• Weariness often rides on the back of a spirit of heaviness, depression, discouragement.

• It is not just emotional; it is spiritual. Demons use weariness to sap strength, blur vision, delay destiny, and derail obedience.

🔹 III. THE DANGERS OF COMING UNDER WEARINESS

1. đź”» It weakens your prayer and Word life.

📖 Luke 18:1 (KJV): “Men ought always to pray, and not to faint.”

• Prayerlessness is a sign of fainting; fainting is proof of weariness.

• You stop pressing, expecting, or trusting when weariness dominates.

2. đź”» It makes you vulnerable to deception and compromise.

📖 Daniel 7:25 (KJV): “…he shall wear out the saints of the most High…”

• Satan’s end-time strategy is to wear out the saints—not destroy immediately, but wear down until they yield.

3. đź”» It distorts spiritual vision and divine timing.

📖 Galatians 6:9 (KJV): “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

• The spirit of weariness causes people to miss their “due season” because they give up too early.

4. đź”» It opens the door to unbelief and bitterness.

📖 Hebrews 12:15 (KJV): “Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you…”

• Prolonged weariness opens the door for bitterness, murmuring, and offense against God, people, or destiny helpers.

🔹 IV. EXAMPLES OF WEARINESS IN SCRIPTURE

1. 🔸 Elijah – 1 Kings 19

• After his mighty showdown at Mount Carmel, Elijah came under the spirit of weariness.

• He was tired, afraid, and wanted to die.

📖 1 Kings 19:4 (KJV): “…It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life…”

• God had to feed him, reassign him, and restore his vision.

2. 🔸 Moses – Numbers 11

• Moses became weary from the people’s complaints and asked God to kill him.

đź“– Numbers 11:14-15 (KJV)

• Leadership weariness made him lose sight of God’s provision and grace.

3. 🔸 The Israelites – Psalm 106

• They grew weary of God’s timing and began to murmur.

📖 Psalm 106:13-14 (KJV): “They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel: But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness…”

• Weariness opened the door to rebellion.

🔹 V. HOW TO OVERCOME THE SPIRIT OF WEARINESS

âś… 1. Renew Your Strength in the Presence of God

📖 Isaiah 40:31 (KJV): “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength…”

• Waiting on God isn’t passive—it is active expectation, worship, and surrender.

âś… 2. Put on the Garment of Praise

📖 Isaiah 61:3 (KJV): “…the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness…”

• Praise shifts the spiritual climate and breaks off weariness and heaviness.

âś… 3. Feed on the Word of God Daily

📖 Jeremiah 15:16 (KJV): “Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart…”

• The Word of God is spiritual food that energizes and strengthens your inner man.

âś… 4. Stay in Fellowship and Accountability

📖 Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (KJV): “Two are better than one…if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow…”

• Isolation empowers weariness. Fellowship brings encouragement and spiritual alignment.

✅ 5. Remember and Rehearse God’s Faithfulness

📖 Psalm 103:2 (KJV): “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits…”

• Gratitude and remembrance refuel your joy and faith when weariness tries to settle in.

🔹 VI. FINAL WARNING AND ENCOURAGEMENT

📖 2 Corinthians 4:16 (KJV): “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.”

• Fainting is optional. Renewal is available daily.

📖 Proverbs 24:10 (KJV): “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.”

• The day of adversity will come—but fainting is not your portion. The Holy Spirit within you is your strength.

🙏🏽 PRAYER

Lord, I reject the spirit of weariness in my soul and body. I receive strength in my inner man. I put on the garment of praise and fix my eyes on You. I shall not faint, I shall not draw back, I shall not give up. My due season shall not pass me by. In Jesus’ name, amen.
