Angels are powerful spiritual beings created by God to carry out His divine will. Throughout Scripture, they serve as messengers, warriors, and worshippers of God. However, the Bible warns us not to worship angels or seek knowledge about them beyond what is revealed in Scripture. God alone is worthy of worship, and we must be cautious not to be deceived by false angelic revelations.
This blog will explore the different types of angels described in the Bible, their roles, and their ministry to believers. It will also highlight the transformation of Lucifer from a glorious cherub to the great red dragon. Accompanying each section is an image that visually represents the biblical descriptions of these celestial beings.
1. Seraphim – Worshippers of God, Not to Be Worshipped

The Seraphim, described in Isaiah 6:2-3, are high-ranking angels who continually worship before God’s throne, declaring:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!” – Isaiah 6:3
Key Lessons:
• The Seraphim exist to glorify God, not to receive worship.
• Their presence reminds us that true worship belongs to God alone.
⚠️ Warning: Some people seek mystical experiences with angels, but even the holiest angel rejects worship, directing all glory to God!
2. Cherubim – Guardians of God’s Presence, Not Spirit Guides

Cherubim are powerful angels described in Ezekiel 10 and Genesis 3:24. They have four faces (human, lion, ox, and eagle), multiple wings, and are covered in eyes, symbolizing God’s omniscience and power.
“He placed cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.” – Genesis 3:24
Key Lessons:
• Cherubim are God’s guardians, not spiritual guides for humans.
• Praying to or invoking angels is unbiblical.
• God alone is our source of guidance and protection (Proverbs 3:5-6).
⚠️ Warning: Many false teachings encourage people to summon angels, but the Bible never supports this!
3. Archangel Michael – A Warrior for God, Not a Source of Revelation

Michael is the only angel in the Bible explicitly called Archangel (Jude 1:9). He leads God’s army in battle against Satan in Revelation 12:7-9:
“And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon.” – Revelation 12:7
Key Lessons:
• Michael fights for God’s purposes, not to deliver new teachings.
• Any claim of secret messages from angels contradicts Scripture.
• God’s Word is our complete revelation (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
⚠️ Warning: Many false religions (e.g., Islam, Mormonism) began with supposed angelic revelations that contradict Scripture. Paul warns against this deception:
“Even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!” – Galatians 1:8
4. Ministering Angels – Sent to Serve, Not to be Called Upon

Angels Are Ministering Spirits Assigned to Believers
The Bible teaches that angels are actively involved in the lives of those who walk in obedience to God.
“Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?” – Hebrews 1:14
Angels protect, guide, and assist believers in fulfilling God’s will.
“For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.” – Psalm 91:11
Key Lessons:
• Angels are assigned to help and protect believers who walk in obedience to God’s will.
• They do not act on their own; they follow God’s command (Psalm 103:20).
• We should pray to God, not angels.
⚠️ Warning: Seeking communication with angels or invoking their presence is not biblical. Instead, trust in God’s divine protection and guidance.
5. The Living Creatures – Worshippers of the Eternal God

In Revelation 4:6-8, John describes four living creatures covered in eyes and wings, who continuously worship before God’s throne:
“Day and night they never stop saying: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.’” – Revelation 4:8
Key Lessons:
• These creatures symbolize God’s omniscience and eternal worship.
• They do not communicate with humans, nor should we seek them out.
⚠️ Warning: The Bible warns against obsessing over angels instead of focusing on Jesus Christ:
“Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you.” – Colossians 2:18
Lucifer: From Cherub to Dragon
Lucifer as the Anointed Cherub

Before his fall, Lucifer was a glorious Cherub described in Ezekiel 28:12-17:
“You were the anointed cherub who covers… You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, till iniquity was found in you.” – Ezekiel 28:14-15
Key Lessons:
• Lucifer was created beautiful and perfect, but pride led to his downfall.
• His rebellion against God resulted in his transformation into Satan.
Lucifer After His Fall: The Great Red Dragon

After his rebellion, Lucifer became the great red dragon, as described in Revelation 12:3-9:
“And another sign appeared in heaven: a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns on his heads.” – Revelation 12:3
He was cast out of heaven, along with the angels who followed him.
Key Lessons:
• Satan masquerades as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14) to deceive people.
• His goal is to turn people away from God and distort the truth.
⚠️ Warning: Many are deceived by false angelic visions, not realizing that Satan can appear as an angel of light to mislead them.
Final Thoughts: Keep Your Eyes on Jesus!
While angels are real and serve God, they should never be our focus. Our devotion belongs to Jesus Christ alone, who is the only mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5).
✅ Angels are God’s servants, not independent beings.
✅ Worship God alone, not angels.
✅ The Bible is sufficient; do not seek angelic experiences.
✅ Test all spiritual encounters against Scripture.
