As we approach the Paris Olympics, it is a fitting moment to reflect on the state of our world through the lens of Biblical prophecy. The Bible forewarns us of the moral and spiritual decay that will characterize the last days. In light of recent events and the growing hostility toward Christian values, it is crucial for believers to stay vigilant and grounded in Scripture.
Wickedness and Immorality in the Last Days
The Apostle Paul, in his letter to Timothy, gives a vivid description of the moral climate in the last days. In 2 Timothy 3:1-5, Paul writes:
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
This passage accurately mirrors the contemporary societal trends we observe today. Self-centeredness, pride, and a blatant disregard for God are prevalent. As Christians, we must heed Paul’s warning and turn away from such influences.
The Coldness of Love
Jesus Himself spoke of the increasing wickedness and the resulting coldness of love in Matthew 24:12:
“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”
This prophecy is evident as we witness a decline in genuine love and compassion. The world is becoming increasingly hostile and indifferent, a stark contrast to the love that Christ commands us to show.
Scoffers and Mockers
Peter and Jude also foresaw the emergence of scoffers and mockers in the last days. 2 Peter 3:3 states:
“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts.”
Similarly, Jude 1:18 warns:
“How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.”
The rise of secularism and the open ridicule of Christian beliefs are fulfillment of these prophecies. The world scoffs at the idea of divine judgment and continues to pursue ungodly desires.
Departure from Faith
Paul further warns in 1 Timothy 4:1-2:
“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron.”
We are witnessing a significant departure from faith, even among those who once professed to be Christians. False teachings and moral compromise have infiltrated many churches, leading many astray.
Unrepentant Sin
In the book of Revelation, John describes the unrepentant nature of humanity during the end times. Revelation 9:21 says:
“Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.”
Despite clear signs of divine judgment, many will refuse to repent, continuing in their sinful ways. This unrepentance is a hallmark of the last days.
Deception and Delusion
Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians highlights the deceptive power of the enemy. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 reads:
“Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”
The proliferation of falsehoods and the rejection of truth are clear indicators that we are living in the last days. The strong delusion sent by God is a result of humanity’s willful rejection of His truth.

The Paris Olympics and the Battle Against Christianity
The upcoming Paris Olympics is not just a sporting event; it is also a stage where the clash of worldviews will be evident. The increasing secularization of society and the marginalization of Christian values are on full display. As we see the world celebrate achievements and human potential, there is a growing disdain for the message of the Gospel.
In conclusion, the Bible’s prophecies about the last days are unfolding before our eyes. As believers, we must remain steadfast, rooted in Scripture, and vigilant in our faith. The moral decay and spiritual deception that characterize these times serve as reminders of our urgent need to share the Gospel and live out our faith boldly. Let us turn away from the influences of this world and fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
