In a world filled with choices, it’s easy to be swayed by our own desires and ambitions. However, as Christians, we are called to seek and follow God’s will in our lives. Let’s explore the consequences that may arise when we prioritise our will over His.

1. Proverbs 14:12 (KJV): “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”

• Choosing our own path may appear appealing, but without aligning with God’s will, we risk heading down a destructive road.

2. Jeremiah 10:23 (AMPC): “O Lord [pleads Jeremiah in the name of the people], I know that [the determination of] the way of a man is not in himself; it is not in man [even in a strong man or in a man at his best] to direct his [own] steps.”

• Acknowledging our limited understanding and relying on God’s guidance prevents us from making decisions that lead to negative consequences.

3. Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV): “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

• Trusting in God and seeking His will in every aspect of our lives ensures that we walk on the right path, avoiding the pitfalls of our own limited understanding.

4. James 4:13-16 (AMPC): “Instead, you ought to say, If the Lord wills, we shall live and we shall do this or that [thing].”

• Ignoring God’s will can lead to arrogance and presumptuous planning, resulting in unforeseen consequences.

5. Matthew 6:33 (KJV): “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

• Prioritizing God’s will brings alignment with His kingdom, ensuring that our needs are met in His perfect timing.
