Taking the Ultimate Risk: My Journey to Preach the Gospel in the Face of Adversity

What’s the biggest risk you’d like to take — but haven’t been able to?

In life, we often find ourselves at crossroads, faced with opportunities that could define our purpose and faith. For me, the biggest risk I long to take is to proclaim the Gospel to those who have never heard it, to shine the light of Christ in the darkest corners of the world. However, the path to sharing the Good News may be riddled with obstacles, sometimes to the point of being outlawed. But remember, where there is a will to fulfil God’s calling, there is a way, even in the face of adversity.

The Call to Preach the Gospel:

In my heart, I hear the echo of Mark 16:15 (KJV), where Jesus says, “Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.” This command is clear, and the desire to obey it burns within me. But when it comes to reaching the unreached, I have encountered resistance, opposition, and threats.

Trusting in God’s Guidance:

Proverbs 3:5-6 (AMP) reminds me to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” When faced with the risk of preaching the Gospel where it’s forbidden, I must trust in God’s guidance. I seek His wisdom through prayer and lean on Him for strength.

The Power of Prayer:

Matthew 7:7 (KJV) assures me, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” I pray fervently for the unreached and for the courage to reach them. I believe in the transformative power of prayer that can move mountains and open doors, even in the most restricted places.

Counting the Cost:

Preaching the Gospel where it’s outlawed is a risk, and I’ve learned to consider Luke 14:28 (KJV): “For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?” I’ve counted the cost of this mission, understanding the challenges that may come my way, but never forgetting the eternal reward of leading souls to Christ.

God’s Protection:

Psalm 91:4 (AMP) has been my refuge: “He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler.” In moments of doubt, I remember that God is my refuge and strength. His divine protection is unwavering.

Courage in the Face of Adversity:

Finally, I find courage in Joshua 1:9 (KJV): “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” I cling to God’s presence, knowing that He is with me wherever I go, and His command to preach the Gospel is unwavering.

Taking the risk of preaching the Gospel in forbidden places is a challenging and noble endeavor. While it may be outlawed in the eyes of the world, I remember that it is never outlawed in the eyes of God. I trust in His guidance, seek His protection, and have the courage to fulfill my divine calling. The unreached and unsaved souls are waiting for the Good News. Am I willing to take that ultimate risk for the glory of God?
