What brings a tear of joy to your eye?
In the journey of faith, there are moments when we are brought to tears of joy by the overwhelming goodness, extravagant love, and abundant blessings of God. These moments are glimpses into the profound ways in which God can make something out of nothing, breathe hope into the hopeless, and revive those whom the world has given up on.
1. **Creation from Nothing:**
One of the most awe-inspiring aspects of our faith is the realization that God created the entire universe from nothing. In Genesis 1:1, we read, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” This profound act of creation reminds us that God can bring forth beauty and purpose from what appears to be emptiness.
2. **Extravagant Love:**
The extravagant love of God is a theme that resonates throughout the Bible. In Romans 5:8, it is written, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” This sacrificial love, demonstrated through the life and death of Jesus Christ, is a love that knows no bounds and can transform even the most broken of hearts.
3. **Hope for the Hopeless:**
The Bible is filled with stories of individuals who had lost hope but found it renewed in God’s presence. One such story is that of the prodigal son in Luke 15:24, where the father says, “For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.” God’s grace and forgiveness can resurrect hope in the most desperate of circumstances.
4. **Reviving the Unlikely:**
We see God’s power to revive the seemingly hopeless in the story of Lazarus in John 11. Lazarus had been dead for four days, and everyone had given up on him. Yet, at the command of Jesus, Lazarus came back to life. This miraculous event reminds us that God can bring life and purpose even to situations that appear beyond repair.
5. **God’s Promise of Blessings:**
Throughout the Bible, we find promises of blessings for those who trust in God. Jeremiah 29:11 states, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” God’s blessings often come when we least expect them, filling our hearts with tears of joy.
In those moments when we witness God’s transformative love and grace in action, when we see lives changed, hope rekindled, and blessings poured out abundantly, it is only natural for tears of joy to flow. These experiences remind us of the incredible power and goodness of our Heavenly Father, who can make the impossible possible and bring light into the darkest of circumstances. Let these moments of joy be a testimony to the world of the boundless love and mercy of our God.
