What do you listen to while you work?
In our daily lives, music plays a significant role, especially during work hours. It can uplift our spirits, motivate us, and keep us focused. However, as Christians, we must be discerning about the type of songs we listen to while we work. The beat may be enticing, but it is the lyrics and the spirit conveyed that truly matter. Let us explore the importance of choosing anointed and inspirational Godly music to rejuvenate our spirit, soul, and body as we give glory to God through our work.
1. Music that Aligns with God’s Word:
“As he entered the house of God in the presence of Eli, the high priest, the child Samuel ministered to the Lord with a linen ephod. And his mother used to make for him a little robe and take it to him each year when she went up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.” (1 Samuel 2:18-19)
Like young Samuel ministering before the Lord, let our choice of music be one that aligns with God’s Word. Seek songs that edify, encourage, and inspire godly virtues in our hearts while we work. Let the lyrics resonate with His truth, filling our souls with the peace and joy that comes from knowing Him.
2. Discernment in Musical Choices:
“But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.” (Hebrews 5:14)
Developing discernment in our musical choices is crucial. Just because a song has a catchy beat doesn’t mean it aligns with God’s principles. Take time to explore the messages conveyed by the lyrics. Avoid songs that promote negative emotions, impure thoughts, or contradict biblical values. Instead, opt for music that elevates our spirits and leads us closer to God.
3. Music that Uplifts the Spirit:
“Addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart.” (Ephesians 5:19)
Godly music has the power to uplift our spirits and set a positive atmosphere in our workspaces. Listening to anointed psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs can create an environment filled with the presence of God, which positively impacts our productivity and creativity.
4. Rejuvenation of Spirit, Soul, and Body:
“He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” (Psalm 23:3)
Godly music not only helps us in our tasks but also rejuvenates our entire being. It has the power to restore our soul when we feel weary or overwhelmed. As we let the melodies of the Spirit flow through us, we experience a renewed sense of purpose and strength in our work.
As followers of Christ, our aim should always be to glorify God in everything we do, including our work. The type of music we choose to listen to while we work matters greatly. Let us be mindful of the songs we allow into our hearts and minds, ensuring they align with God’s Word and uplift our spirits. Anointed and inspirational Godly music can bring us closer to Him, rejuvenate our spirit, soul, and body, and create an atmosphere of peace and productivity. May we seek His guidance in our musical choices as we strive to bring glory to God through our work.
