What countries do you want to visit?
In our quest for adventure and exploration, we often wonder which countries we should visit. Is it merely a matter of personal preference, or is there something deeper at play? As believers, we understand that God has a plan for our lives, and this includes the places we journey to. From the scriptures, we can gain insight into the concept of destinies intertwined with travel and uncover the countries we might be led to explore.
1. Seeking God’s Purpose in Travel:
Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” From this verse, we understand that God has a purpose for every aspect of our lives, including the countries we visit. By seeking His guidance and direction, we can discover the nations that align with His plans for us.
2. Jesus’ Great Commission:
In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus commands His followers, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” As believers, we are called to spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Our journeys, therefore, should be driven by a desire to share the message of Christ’s love and redemption.
3. Unveiling Cultural Diversity:
The beauty of travel lies in experiencing the diversity of cultures and people. Acts 17:26 tells us that God “made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth.” Through exploration, we can witness the vast tapestry of humanity and develop a deeper appreciation for God’s creativity in crafting unique nations.
4. Impacting Lives through Service:
Galatians 6:10 reminds us, “So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” Visiting countries can offer opportunities to serve and make a difference in the lives of others. We may find ourselves led to nations where our skills, resources, or passions can positively impact communities and spread God’s love.
5. Discovering Personal Growth:
Travel often challenges us to step out of our comfort zones and embrace new experiences. Proverbs 27:17 says, “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” By immersing ourselves in different cultures, we can grow spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually, broadening our perspectives and deepening our faith.
As we embark on our travel journeys, let us seek God’s guidance, meditate on His Word, and open our hearts to the leading of the Holy Spirit. While personal preferences certainly play a role in our choice of destinations, we should also consider the purpose God has in store for us. By taking the Gospel to the ends of the earth and impacting lives through service, we can fulfil our calling and make a meaningful difference in the countries we visit. As we explore new lands, may we do so with open eyes, open hearts, and a steadfast commitment to God’s plan for our lives.
