Describe one simple thing you do that brings joy to your life.
In a world filled with constant hustle and bustle, finding joy in the simple things can often feel like a luxury. As a Christian, I believe that the pursuit of joy should be deeply rooted in the desire to please God and bring happiness to others. In this blog, I will share some of the simple things that bring me immense joy as I strive to be the best husband, father, and pastor I can be while also drawing inspiration from relevant Bible verses.
1. Being the Best Husband for My Wife:
One of the greatest sources of joy in my life is the opportunity to be the best husband I can be for my wife. By showing her love, care, and respect, I strive to create a nurturing and supportive environment for our marriage to flourish. In Ephesians 5:25, the Bible encourages husbands to love their wives sacrificially, just as Christ loved the church. This verse inspires me to prioritise my wife’s needs, desires, and well-being, which ultimately brings us joy.
2. Embracing the Role of a Father:
As a father, I find immense joy in the simple moments shared with my children. From bedtime stories to playing games together, these precious moments remind me of the blessings that God has bestowed upon me. Proverbs 22:6 reminds us to train our children in how they should go, and when they are old, they will not depart from it. Investing in their spiritual and emotional growth brings me deep joy, knowing that I am shaping their lives and nurturing their faith.
3. Serving as a God-Fearing Pastor:
As a pastor, my ultimate goal is to guide and nurture the spiritual well-being of my congregation. Nothing brings me greater joy than witnessing the transformation and growth of individuals in their relationship with God. In Jeremiah 3:15, God promises to give His people shepherds who will lead them with knowledge and understanding. By faithfully fulfilling this calling, I find immense joy in being a vessel through which God’s love and grace can touch the lives of others.
4. Spreading Joy to Others:
Beyond my primary roles as a husband, father, and pastor, I am motivated to bring joy to others in various ways. Whether lending a helping hand to a neighbour, offering encouragement to a friend, or participating in charitable activities, I strive to be a source of joy and blessing to those around me. In Philippians 2:4, we are reminded to look not only to our interests but also to the interests of others. By living out this principle, I experience the joy of being a channel of God’s love and compassion.
As a Christian, finding joy in the simple things is deeply intertwined with my faith. By prioritising my roles as a husband, father, and pastor and by striving to bring joy to others, I align my actions with God’s desires for my life. Through relevant Bible verses, I am continually reminded of the importance of love, selflessness, and service. It is in these moments, where I am living out my faith and spreading joy that I find the greatest joy in return—a joy that is truly fulfilling and everlasting.
