Productivity Through Following The Will of God

When do you feel most productive?

As human beings, we all have goals, tasks, and responsibilities to accomplish each day. Whether completing a work project, taking care of our families, or pursuing personal interests, we all strive to be productive and accomplish something each day.

As a believer, there is a sense of fulfilment that comes from knowing you have done everything God has asked you to do each day. It’s a feeling of accomplishment that cannot be matched by any earthly achievement. In this blog post, we will explore the idea of productivity as it relates to obedience to God’s commands and how it can bring us true satisfaction in life.

The Bible teaches us that obedience to God’s commands is essential for a meaningful life. Deuteronomy 6:17 reads: “You shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and His testimonies, and His statutes which He has commanded you.” Likewise, in John 14:15, Jesus tells his disciples, “If you love me, keep my commandments.” These verses remind us that our obedience to God is not optional; it is a requirement of our faith.

When we make obedience to God our priority, we begin to experience a sense of productivity not based on our achievements or accomplishments. Instead, we are focused on doing the work that God has called us to do, and we find fulfilment in knowing that we are doing His will. As Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” When we put God first, we begin to desire the things that align with His will for our lives, and we find joy and satisfaction in doing them.

In addition to finding fulfilment in obedience to God’s commands, we also find that it leads to a life of greater purpose. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus gives his disciples the Great Commission: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.” When we obey this command, we are working towards spreading the Gospel and making disciples of all nations. This is a purpose that transcends any personal achievement or goal, and it gives our lives true meaning and significance.

When we prioritise doing everything God asks us to do each day, we may find that we feel the most productive and fulfilled.

The Bible contains verses emphasising the importance of seeking God’s will and following His commands. One such verse is in Matthew 6:33, which says, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” This verse reminds us that when we put God first in our lives and seek to do His will, He will provide for our needs and help us to be productive in all areas of our lives.

Another verse that speaks to the idea of productivity concerning following God’s commands is found in Colossians 3:23-24, which says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” This verse encourages us to do all our work as if we were doing it for God Himself, knowing we will receive a reward for our faithfulness.

When we prioritise following God’s will for our lives, we may find that we are more productive and efficient in accomplishing our tasks. This is because when we are focused on doing what God wants, we are less likely to be distracted by things that don’t matter or waste our time. Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” This verse reminds us that when we commit our work to the Lord, He will guide us and help us to accomplish what He wants us to do.

When we prioritise obedience to God, we experience a sense of peace that cannot be found in any other way. As Isaiah 26:3 says, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You because he trusts in You.” When we trust in God and obey His commands, we can rest in knowing that we live according to His plan. This brings us a sense of peace that cannot be found in any other way.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not be afraid.”

When we do what God wants, we can experience a deep sense of peace from knowing we follow His plan.

As Christians, we are called to prioritise following God’s will for our lives. When we do this, we may feel the most productive and fulfilled in all areas of our lives. We can trust that God will provide for our needs and guide us as we work to accomplish what He wants us to do. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

In conclusion, true productivity comes from obedience to God’s commands. When prioritising obedience to God, we find fulfilment, purpose, and peace that any earthly achievement cannot match. Let us strive each day to do everything God asks, trusting He will guide us and give us the strength to do His will. As we do so, we will experience the true satisfaction of living a satisfying life with God.
