The Weapons of Our Warfare

Do you ever feel like you don’t have anything to offer? Like you’re not equipped to handle the challenges in your life? Well, I’ve got good news for you. God doesn’t see you that way. He sees potential in you that you may not even see in yourself.

In Exodus 4, when God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, Moses didn’t feel like he was the right person for the job. He even argued with God, saying, “I am slow of speech and tongue.” But God didn’t let Moses off the hook that easily. Instead, He asked Moses, “What is that in your hand?”

Moses was holding a staff, a simple wooden rod that he used to tend his flock. But when God told Moses to stretch out that rod, it became a powerful tool that God used to perform miracles and demonstrate His power.

Likewise, all we sometimes need in our hand is a Bible. It may seem like a simple book, but it is full of life-changing power. When we make proclamations of what the Bible says about us, we are stretching out that rod and releasing the power of God in our lives.

Deuteronomy 33:25-27 (NIV) is a great passage to proclaim over your life on a daily basis. It says, “The bolts of [our] gates will be iron and bronze, and [our] strength will equal [our] days. There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, who rides on the heavens to help [us] and on the clouds in his majesty. The eternal God is [our] refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out [our] enemy before [us], saying, ‘Destroy him!'”

When we proclaim powerful words like this from the Bible over our lives, we are reminding ourselves of who we are in Christ and what God has promised to do for us. We are also declaring to the enemy that he has no power over us because we are under the protection of Almighty God.

But proclamation is not the only weapon we have in spiritual warfare. We can also use binding and loosing, agreement, thanksgiving, and praise to defeat the enemy and walk in victory. These weapons are all based on the truth of God’s Word and the power of His name.

So don’t let a day go by without using the weapons of warfare that God has given you. Proclaim the Word of God over your life, bind and loose according to His will, find agreement with other believers, give thanks in all circumstances, and praise Him for His goodness and faithfulness. As you do, you will see the strong man over your life and your circumstances removed, and you will walk in the victory that Christ has already won for you.
