High School Days As A Christian

Describe something you learned in high school.

Biology studies living organisms and their interactions with each other and their environment. As Christians, we believe God created all living things and gave us the responsibility to care for them. Therefore, studying Biology can deepen Christian students’ faith and understanding of God’s creation. Here are some ways in which Biology relates to the Bible:

1. Creation

The Bible tells us that God created the world and all living things. Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Biology helps us understand the complexity of God’s creation, from the smallest microorganisms to the largest animals. The study of Biology reveals the intricacies of life that we might otherwise take for granted, leading us to a greater appreciation for the creativity and power of God’s design.

2. Stewardship

As Christians, we believe that God has entrusted us with the care of His creation. Genesis 1:28 says, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and every living creature that moves on the ground.” Biology teaches us about the interdependence of living organisms and the importance of maintaining balance in ecosystems. By studying Biology, we can learn how to be good stewards of God’s creation and fulfil our responsibility to care for the earth and its inhabitants.

3. Sanctity of Life

As Christians, we believe that all life is sacred and valuable. Psalm 139:13-14 says, “For you created my inmost being you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Biology helps us understand the complexities of human life, from the development of a foetus to the functions of our organs. By studying Biology, we can appreciate the sanctity of life and the importance of treating all living things with respect and care.

4. God’s Provision

The Bible tells us that God provides for all living things. Matthew 6:26 says, “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” Biology teaches us about the processes of photosynthesis and cellular respiration, which are essential for the survival of all living things. By studying Biology, we can appreciate God’s provision and the complex ways He sustains life.

In conclusion, as Christian students study Biology in high school, they can see how studying living organisms and their interactions with each other and their environment is deeply connected to the Bible. By learning about God’s creation and our role, we can deepen our faith and understanding of the importance of stewardship and the sanctity of life.
