“Like the sparrow in her wandering, like the swallow in her flying, so the causeless curse does not alight. [Num. 23:8.]” (Proverbs 26:2 AMPC)
In Proverbs 26:2, we are reminded that curses do not come without a cause.
This verse inspired me to pray for protection from the actions, attitudes, and behaviours that could cause a curse to come upon me. I was led to write down specific prayer points, which I will share with you.
Firstly, pray for protection from the cause that leads to a curse. Ask for the Holy Spirit’s guidance to help you recognise what could lead to a curse.
Secondly, pray for an awareness of what could cause a curse so that you don’t get involved in it. Ask the Lord to open your eyes to any situation that could lead to a curse.
Thirdly, pray against any actions, reactions, activities, responses, practices, attitudes, behaviours, and anything that gives rise to a cause that permits a curse.
Fourthly, pray for an end to the cause that continues a curse. Declare that you will not continue in the cause that leads to a curse, in Jesus’ name, with the Holy Spirit’s help.
Fifthly, pray against the spirit of rebellion that permits witchcraft operations in a man’s life. Rebellion is a cause that permits the curse of witchcraft.
The Bible warns us that rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft (1 Samuel 15:23), and we are not to suffer a witch to live (Exodus 22:18). God resists the proud and fights against the rebellious (James 4:6). Therefore, if you know that you have been practising rebellion, repent fast. Every rebellion against Divine structures and leadership will be judged.
The love of God allows mercy to keep some of us from what we truly deserve for our wrong actions against God, His Anointing, and His Anointed.
May that mercy keep us long enough to correct our ways, so we can end the cause of a curse that must be judged and will be judged.
Let us not be foolish by rejecting warnings. Instead, let us heed the warnings so that we can avoid calamity. Judgment is coming for the rebellious children who carry out their own plan, not God’s (Isaiah 30:1). But the Lord is merciful and loving, slow to become angry, and full of constant love. For those who honour the Lord, His love lasts forever, and His goodness endures for all generations (Psalms 103:8-17).
In conclusion, we must always be aware of our actions and attitudes and pray for protection against anything that could cause a curse.
We should also repent of any rebellion in our lives and honour God so that we can receive His love and mercy.
