The Bible tells us in James 4:7 that we should resist the devil, and he will flee from us. Knowing God’s Word and discerning His voice empowers us to resist the enemy and overcome his schemes.
I can confidently affirm that nothing terrifies the devil more than a Christian who is well-versed in the Scriptures and is attuned to the voice of God.
Satan is indeed intimidated by a Christian who is well-versed in the word of God and familiar with His voice. Proverbs 28:1 states, “The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.”
It is crucial to understand that God’s primary method of training us is through His word. The Holy Bible is the primary tool that God uses to train us and instruct us in His ways. In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, we learn that “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Therefore, as believers, we must commit ourselves to studying and meditating on the word of God daily. In doing so, we allow His truth to permeate our hearts, renew our minds, and guide our actions.
As we read, meditate and apply the Word of God, we become more like Jesus and are equipped to do His will.
The voice of the Lord can come to us in various ways, but it is essential to recognise it when it does.
In John 10:27, Jesus says, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” As Christians, we must be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and discern His voice when He speaks to us. The Lord may speak to us for our protection or to deliver others, and we must not ignore or belittle His promptings.
Additionally, we must cultivate an intimate relationship with God and learn to discern His voice. John 10:27 tells us, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”
Proverbs 1:7 tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. We must, therefore, hold the voice of God in high esteem and reverence. It is through His voice that He guides us to live a life that glorifies Him and fulfils our destiny.
Psalm 29:4 declares that “the voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.” As we yield to the voice of God, we tap into His power and majesty and are propelled towards our God-given destiny.
God speaks to us for various reasons, including our safety and the salvation of others. Therefore, we should never take His voice for granted or disregard it. As 1 Samuel 3:10 reminds us, “And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.”
As children of God, we must recognize the power and importance of His voice in our lives.
The voice of the Lord equips and empowers us to fulfill our destiny as believers. As Isaiah 30:21 assures us, “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”
I encourage you to be diligent in studying the Scriptures and attuned to the voice of God. His Word and voice are vital to living a victorious Christian life and fulfilling our destiny in Christ.
Proverbs 8:32 says, “And now, O sons, listen to me: blessed are those who keep my ways.” May you be blessed as you listen and obey the voice of the Lord.
Therefore, let us commit ourselves to studying His word, discerning His voice, and obeying His commands. As we do so, we will experience the fullness of the resurrected life and fulfil our destiny in Christ.
