Parents Are Called To Be Intercessors – Hello, Fathers!

I am sure you have heard of many children saying that their mothers were their Intercessors and giving testimonies of what those prayers or intercessions did in their lives. Occasionally you would hear the same said of a few fathers.

God bless genuine Christian mothers. We must appreciate them. Thank you, mamas. God will reward your labour of love.

This message is, however, not to mothers but to us, the fathers.

Job 1:5 AMPC – And when the days of their feasting were over, Job sent for them to purify and hallow them, and rose up early in the morning and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed or disowned God in their hearts. Thus did Job at all [such] times.

As a priest of his family, each father has the privilege to do what Job did—to bear up his children continuously before God in prayer. This keeps them under the continuing oversight and protection of the Almighty. But when a father fails to fulfil his intercessory ministry as a priest, God says, “I will forget your children.”

Hosea 4:6 KJV – My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

The NIV renders this, “I also will ignore your children.” That is, “Your children will no longer be under My special, watchful care.”

This solemn warning of God has become vivid to me these days. Sometimes, watching the multitudes of children thronging the streets in the city, I ask myself, “How many of these are forgotten by God—ignored by God—because they have no fathers to intercede for them?”

Thank God for mothers that are stepping up where fathers have failed. Thank God for the Living Church of Jesus Christ stepping in where fathers have abrogated their calling to be a priest.

Isaiah 62:6 AMPC – I have set watchmen upon your walls, O Jerusalem, who will never hold their peace day or night; you who [are His servants and by your prayers] put the Lord in remembrance [of His promises], keep not silence

This terrible situation calls for an army of committed intercessors who will stand in the gap on behalf of such families.

But the intercessory prayer of a father on behalf of his family is unique. No one else can fully take that father’s place. His unique privileges carry with them unique responsibilities.

I implore all Christian fathers, step up and embrace your role as the priest of your home.

I encourage all Christian mothers, let Proverbs 31 define you. Virtuous women thou hath.

Judges 5:7 KJV – The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel.

In homes where the father is not a Christian and as such forfeited the role of a priest- Christian mothers must rise as Deborah did and intercede for their children and never cease. Ensure that they are brought up under the Anointing and structure of your local Church – allow them to be trained for their divine destiny.

If so, be it that children will serve the God of their mothers. Mothers ensure your God is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Our children shall not be prey for the enemy’s teeth if we disallow it.

Job 22:28 KJV – Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.

Come on, let’s decree it and stand our ground – Our children will not be prey for the enemy’s teeth. In the Name of Jesus!

Have a blessed day and remember to share your testimonies with me.

The Message Bearer, Cornelius Bella
