Imagine you are a pole vaulter and you have been set heights in competitions to overcome. The longer your pole is, the easier it will be for you to overcome and the shorter, the more unlikely you are to.
Likewise, obedience elongates the length of “your pole” and disobedience reduces it. In life, we deal with the divine, demonic and human. Our obedience to the divine sets us up for victory; it makes us win against the demonic and reign in the human.
The devil knows this, and from the beginning of the world, his major evil device is to make us disobedient somewhere against the divine – like in Genesis 3.
Many of the evils we see around us and sometimes experience come from disobedience against the divine somewhere, someplace and sometimes.
You cannot use faith to cover for disobedience. You cannot successfully apply faith whilst In disobedience. Some Christians may be praying and fasting seriously for something they will not get any result for because they are in disobedience against the divine instruction somewhere.
You may be a “prayer warrior”, but your prayer amounts to nothing before God because you constantly disobey His instructions.
Disobedience will limit you or cost you something valuable because;
⁃ there are obstacles the enemy puts in your way that you cannot overcome whilst in disobedience.
⁃ there are heights you cannot reach or attain whilst in disobedience.
⁃ you can not experience the true joy of the Lord whilst living in disobedience.
I encourage you to pray that the Holy Spirit will reveal to you all your areas of disobedience. And ask and receive the Holy Spirit’s assistance in making your obedience sure to every divine instruction.
1 Samuel 15:23 KJV – For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
Disobedience will give the devil a foothold in your life because disobedience births rebellion and rebellion is a sin of witchcraft. Witchcraft is the complete work of Satan. Therefore, leave no [such] room or foothold for the devil [give no opportunity to him] (Ephesians 4:27 AMPC).
Obedience is key! It was the obedience of Jesus to the Father’s will that brought about our salvation and the destruction of the works of Satan.
1 John 3:8 KJV – He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
There is a work that God wants to do through our obedience this year if we would let Him. Remember, obedience will always be better than sacrifice.
1 Samuel 15:22 KJV – And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
There is no sacrifice, no matter how costly, that will make God to ignore or accept your disobedience.
Psalm 139:23-24 KJV – Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
I believe that this message calls for repentance and correction. Why don’t you take some time today to be quiet before the Lord and do well jot down everything the Holy Spirit brings to your heart – pointers to those areas of disobedience? And in the future, obediently carry out God’s instructions to you, and it shall be well with you in the name of Jesus.
