Renew Your Mind and Transform Your Life

Text: Romans 12:1-2

Anointed day to you precious Souls bought with the precious Blood of the Lamb (Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ).

In the scripture below, I want you to note the following words:

⁃ Present

⁃ Service

⁃ Conformed

⁃ Transformed

⁃ Renewing

⁃ Prove

Romans 12:1-2 KJV

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Present: means to surrender or yield yourself unto God. To dedicate all yourself unto God. To separate Yourself unto God. To consecrate all that you are to God.

This involves your conscious decision. It involves you making a deliberate choice to do so.

Galatians 2:20 KJV

20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Service: refers to worshipful living. It means you do everything as unto the Lord; you don’t limit God to just some areas of your life. It is living a life of Holiness, a life and living that brings pleasure to God. A genuine expression of worship. If you have truly accepted God as your maker and owner, it is the least you can do for Him. The passion translation says that you become a sacred living sacrifice unto God.

You find pleasure in bringing pleasure to God. You have honour and love for God

Revelation 4:11 KJV

11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure, they are and were created.

Ephesians 2:10 AMPC

10 For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), [recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].

Conformed: means to be moulded or shaped into by submitting to the pressure of mould or the shaper. Some other translations of the Bible used words like imitation, being like, fashioned after, adapted to, copying, fitting into…

It is not a secret that we are in a world that has a system that perpetually exerts unholy and unwholesome influence upon people’s minds.

The Bible highlights to us that the God of this world has blinded the minds of some (2 Cor 4:4). This spiritual blindness makes people not to see through a lie or deceit. And we are not to be ignorant of Those two devices of the devil (2 Cor 2:11).

Satan is a relentless adversary going to fro, seeking whom he can bring into conformation so they can be devoured. To make it more graphic, study how a python kills its prey. It’s a gradual process.

The python can camouflage

It can slowly slide around its prey and tighten its grip crushing it and cutting off its blood circulation as it does so.

He can also hold the prey in place with a jaw structure that does not allow the prey to pull out once the python has its mouth around it. Once it has swallowed its prey, its stomach acid starts a digestive process that removes all the edible bits, and all that remain is bones.

Satan, thief and liar’s modus of Operandi is to kill still and destroy (John 10:10). The major entry point is the mind. The entry point of the mind is our senses: sight, taste, smell, touch, hearing – whatever you are exposing them to – you are exposing your mind to too. And satan only needs an opportunity (Luke 14:13).

Proverbs 4:23 Expanded Bible

23 ·Be careful what you think [Above all that you guard, protect your heart] because ·your thoughts run your life [life flows from it].

The Bible has helped to give a guide on what we should focus our mind on or even expose our senses to in

Philippians 4:8 TPT

Keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honourable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.

Ensure that as part of putting on the whole armour of God (Ephesians 6:11-18), you wear the helmet of salvation every day; this is to make your mind increasingly insulated against the suggestions, desires and traps the enemy lays for you.

Transformation and Renewing:

If you don’t allow for the renewing of your mind, transformation cannot take place, and conformity to the world’s system will be inevitable.

This transformation and renewal can only happen through the truth of God’s word and the power of the Holy Spirit.

It is an inward transformation that leads to a total reformation of how you think. It is progressive spiritual maturity by focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes.

Some critical benefits or advantages come with the renewing and transformation of your mind, according to the Bible:

Prove: you will be able to prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].

Empowerment: you are empowered to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.

Understanding and Knowledge: you will understand what God wants you to do. You will know what is good. You will know what pleases God. You will know what is completely right.

Learning: you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going to work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to the world’s culture that you fit into it without thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. By fixing your attention on God, you’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognise what he wants from you and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you and develops well-formed maturity in you.

Remain blessed, and have a glorious day.
