Romans 10:17 (KJV)
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Faith comes by hearing and not hearing anything else but the Word of God. Only the Word of God can bring or supply faith (paraphrased)
Romans 12:3 (KJV)
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
And without faith, the measure given to all born again Christians and the continuous supply of it by the Word of God, it is impossible to please God. The faith measure at salvation is pleasing to God. The faith that comes by hearing and is applied to all aspects of life brings pleasure to God.
Hebrews 10:38 (KJV)
38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
We rented a flat some time ago that is perfect in every way except for a temperamental boiler and heating. Whilst doing my prayer walk one morning, I found myself thinking about the boiler and how that the only way for you to get it to work is turn on the booster switch. The booster takes the boiler from the state of inactivity to a state where the boiler works at such a rate that it rapidly boils the water in it’s reservoir, turning it into steam and this in turn heats up the house and the water for our bath. However for it not to breakdown from repeatedly undergoing this process, it would need to fill itself up with fresh water and this is often triggered automatically. When the automatic refilling does not take place, expert help would be required and that would mean a call out to the engineer by the estate agent at a cost.
Romans 12:3b (KJV)
…God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Every Christian has a measure or degree of faith. The same faith that confirmed our salvation. But that measure of faith is like the water in the aforementioned boiler’s reservoir. That measure of faith never goes lower than the level it is divinely set at. However, there is faith that comes as stirrer-up when we stay connected to the flow of the Word of God through the hearing i.e. listening to anointed preaching, reading and studying the Word of God and confessing the Word of God. The faith keeps a Christian divinely vibrant when it comes to life issues and circumstances. As with the boiler where you would need to turn on the booster switch, to handle the weightier matters of life, we need to stir up our faith. Even a little faith stirred up can accomplish great things.
“And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you”. Matthew 17:20 KJV
“Faith is the hand that obtains what the Grace of God in Christ Jesus has already made available”

A Christian who does not exercise his or her faith (build his or her faith muscles up) is actually choosing to soon be handicapped spiritually. The muscle of any area of the body that is not exercised by being used becomes flabby, weak and the reach or stretch of such muscle is restricted (this a disability or likened to being handicapped). A Christian who does not regularly exercise his/her faith, is a self-limiting Christian and cannot work the works of God nor carry out divine assignments nor fulfil his/her divine calling: such a person makes himself/herself useless in the Kingdom he/she is neither hot nor cold but lukewarm and cannot please God; in fact God finds such a person distasteful.
Revelation 3: 15-16 (KJV)
15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
The desire of any proper child or true son’s ought to be to please his/her father.
“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:” Romans 8:15-16 KJV
Mathew 3:17 (AMP)
17 and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased and delighted!”
God is our Father and it ought to be our earnest desire and diligent pursuit in life to continually bring pleasure to Him and we can only fully do this through faith. You and I must stay connected to anointed flowing channels of the Word of God through perpetual conscious hearing so that our faith is built up and remains functional within the scope of the Divine.
Prayer:
Almighty God I willingly and actively fully open myself up to the ministry of your Word. I thank you for the measure of faith You’ve given me and the faith that comes from hearing Your Word and I will not only bring pleasure to God but I will also do great exploits of faith through the Power and Help of the Holy Spirit in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen!
