John 8:32 KJV
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Divine Truth, if alive in us, displays God’s glory and reveals more of God to us; that revelation awakens in us a more active love for God.
Knowing truth as God’s truth is not a virtue until it awakens desire and delight in us for the God of Truth. And that desire and delight find completeness in giving rise to thoughts, words and actions that display absolute obedience to God, full awareness of the love of God and a fervent love for God in our day to day living.
Anyone who truly loves God obeys God, is known by God and is owned by God.
“If anyone imagines that he has come to know and understand much [of divine things, without love], he does not yet perceive and recognise and understand as strongly and clearly, nor has he become as intimately acquainted with anything as he ought or as is necessary. But if one loves God truly [with affectionate reverence, prompt obedience, and grateful recognition of His blessing], he is known by God [recognised as worthy of His intimacy and love, and he is owned by Him]”.
