Will You Intercede?

“Will You Intercede?”

[Ezekiel 22] verses 30 and 31. God is speaking, and He says:
“I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, that I would not destroy it; but I found no one. Thus [or, therefore] I have poured out My indignation on them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; their way I have brought upon their heads,” declares the Lord GOD.

In this desperate situation, God did not look for a large group. He did not necessarily go to the rulers or even the prophets or the priests. He looked for one person. What kind of a person? Someone who would stand in the gap before Him for the land.

What kind of a person is it who stands in the gap before God for a land, for a city, for a nation? It is an intercessor. I suppose that one of the most tragic statements of Scripture appears there at the end of verse 30 where God says, “I found no one.” To me, that verse seems to indicate that even in that desperate situation, one intercessor could have changed the whole course of history. One
intercessor could have prevailed with God to the sparing of the judgment that came upon God’s people.

But when God could find no intercessor, then there was no more hope. Let me say that again. As long as there is an intercessor there is hope. But when there is no intercessor, there is no more hope.

How do you see your land today? How do you see your nation? In many ways, isn’t your nation at present very much like the situation in Ezekiel’s day? Isn’t there guilt and failure on the part of almost every section of the populace—the prophets, the priests, the secular rulers, and the people at large?

What is the situation? What is God’s response? I believe God is looking for a man or woman to stand in the gap. I believe He is looking for someone to make up the hedge—a man or a woman. An intercessor. Will you offer yourself to God for this ministry?

God in every generation seeks for those who will stand in the gap…
Ezekiel 22:30, “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.”

Either by assignment or by a direct call, He appoints intercessors over a land and a people.

If you have genuinely accepted the call to intercede – you are a partner with Jesus (Romans 8:34) our Lord and Saviour who remains functional in the ministry of intercession, you are partner with the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:26, the Holy Spirit has that as a ministry and you anointed for it.

Here is your word and your mission… And God will always do His part — but we must also and always do our path…

You are the men and women of God over nations and kingdoms. Take yourself most seriously; take this assignment most seriously. Your decision to intercede or not could decide if destruction will be averted or not…selah.

Jeremiah 1:8-10 Amplified Bible
8 “Do not be afraid of them [or their hostile faces],
For I am with you [always] to protect you and deliver you,” says the Lord.
9 Then the Lord stretched out His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me, “Behold (hear Me), I have put My words in your mouth.
10 “See, I have appointed you this day over the nations and over the kingdoms,
To uproot and break down,
To destroy and to overthrow,
To build and to plant.”

God will bless you mightily in this noble assignment of intercession in Jesus Name.

“God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”

Divine recompense!
