By careful observation, I believe I understand why the old or the young practise disobedience. These are some of the things I found about such people:
– They assume it is a loss of control
– Obedience is not fun
– they assume they know better
– it is too cumbersome to obey
– they don’t like change
– they want to do things in their own way
Over and over again, I see people with this mindset suffer the consequences of disobedience.
I have thus come to a correct conclusion that there are things we must obey and there are some things that we can disobey.
Obey what is right and disobey what is wrong. To every authentic child of God, we obey what pleases God and not what displease Him.
Obedience to Divine instructions may not be easy, but however costly one may deem it to be, obedience brings peace, safety, equipping and strengthening.
The interpretation we give a Divine assignment or obligation will determine the cheer we give to carrying it out and how well we do it.
Partial obedience is still disobedience.
God loves cheerful absolute obedience.
There are certain access into Divine realms that we cannot get into except through obedience. There is a becoming that would never happen to us no matter how many alternatives we consider except we obey.
It is in our obedience to God that we truly demonstrate whether we love and trust Him or not.
John 14:15 Amplified Bible, Classic
15 If you [really] love Me, you will keep (obey) My commands.
It is in our obedience that we qualify for the trust of God. Abraham earned the trust of God through obedience.
Romans 4:3 King James Version
3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
There is a sacrifice that obedience may demand of us, but there is a greater sacrifice disobedience will cost us. The sacrifice that obedience demands leads to great rewards. The sacrifice that disobedience requires will cost us more than we bargained for.
1 Samuel 15:22-23 Amplified Bible
22 Samuel said, “Has the Lord as great a delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices As in obedience to the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed [is better] than the fat of rams.
23 “For rebellion is as [serious as] the sin of divination (fortune-telling),
And disobedience is as [serious as] false religion and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you as king.”
Disobedience is –
1. Rebellion
2. False religion
3. Idolatry
4. Pride – self worship
5. Rejection of God’s word
6. Sin
Consequences of Disobedience
1. Seperation from God
2. Resistance by God
3. Rejection by God
4. Becoming a prey to the devil
5. Vulnerable to being stolen from, vulnerable to being killed, vulnerable to being destroyed – the loss of eternal life.
John 10:10a King James Version
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…
Practice obedience; don’t be a victim of disobedience.
To obey is better and it is to our advantage. Disobedience will only leave a bitter taste in your mouth in the long run, and what it would cost a person is not worth it at all.
Trust and obey, for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey.
