Who are You Really?

Study yourself to understand when you are being fearful and when you have a caution not to do something. When one is fearful it is an overwhelming feeling and the senses become erratic in response. When it is a caution it would be a gentle but sure nudge in the heart…some call it gut feeling, instinct, intuition…it is never overwhelming like fear.

Many respond to fear because it is more easily sensed, but caution, instinct, intuition… is above the zone of mere senses. Except for those in the region of darkness… nowhere else would you get the insane encouragement to be fearful, rather you get the more positive statements that spur you to be courageous, to rise beyond the senses that limit a man from being all he could be.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9 ESV

Man is a spirit, who has a soul and dwells in a body. But many do not realize that this is how God has so created them… The ones most devoid of this understanding are the fools that chose to believe that there is no God. These are emotional puppets… emotion is a segment made by the soul and the body it is most often inaccurate. The way God would have a man exhibit his full potential would be that he is aware of all that he is and take all that and submit it to His perfect will, not by force but through an intelligent decision…a heart of certainty and faith-filled confession. From the abundance of the heart a man speaks.

Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 NLT

Let’s look at the facets in which a man is said to exist according to the Creator’s design:
1. Spirit
2. Soul
3. Body

The body is the “world-consciousness,” the soul is the “self-consciousness,” and the spirit is the “God-consciousness.” There are five organs in the body which afford man the five senses. This physical body enables man to communicate with the physical world. This is why it is called the “world-consciousness.” The soul comprises that part in man known as the intellect.

For we have the living Word of God, which is full of energy, like a two-mouthed sword. It will even penetrate to the very core of our being where soul and spirit, bone and marrow meet! It interprets and reveals the true thoughts and secret motives of our hearts.
Hebrews 4:12 TPT

The spirit soul and body are linked to each other, they have individual and a joint function. The efficiency of a man’s life on earth is dependent on how effectively these 3 function together but submitted to God.

I saw a picture of a circle. And was given the understanding that the quality of a man’s life is determined by the category of circle he belongs to:

1. Concentric circles – by hierarchy

Subcategories:
a. Soul-body-spirit
b. Body-soul-spirit
c. Spirit-soul-body
d. Body-spirit-soul
e. Soul-spirit-body
f. Spirit-body-soul

There is one more category this is for the born again, led by the Holy Spirit.

Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself,
1 Corinthians 6:19 NLT

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
Romans 12:1 ESV

2. Segemental circle – no hierarchy

Subcategories:
a. Segmented
b. Unsegments

Segmented: This have a fine balance amongst their spirit, soul and body. It is almost impossible to tell which one is ruling which. They are usually very moralistic. Their involvement with God is a bit neutral. The reality is that the spirit subjected to God must be the leader, the soul obedient to the spirit then dictates the correct operation of the body.

The unsegmented: these are the category of people by demonic involvement and careless living exist in one state of consciousness or the other. Spiritual, soulish, or fleshy.

The spirit, soul and body as door ways:
a. Doors with locks
– manual locks
– automatic locks
b. Doors without locks

Manual locks:
Doors with locks will require a specific key for it to open so whoever has the key will have access. Is the key to your door in God’s hands or devil’s? Do you yield to God’s leading and prompting or do you yield to the dictates of your soul and body which is being manipulated by devil?

Automatic locks:
This type of lock is such that has been developed by the reason of dwelling in the word and by continuous leading of the Holy Spirit. They are borne out of the battles of the mind where a permanent victory has been secured for.

Doors without locks mean anything, person, spirit etc. can have access at any time to every aspect of your life, without any restriction. This is not safe for any one.

Locks are needed and are essential except the born again person, Spirit baptized and filled has a direct, continuous, service to God need not interact at all with no man nor the activities of this world. That in itself is very rare.

Now the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and hereafter]. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever].
Romans 8:6 AMPC

I believe this a good point to take a pause and evaluate from all you have read so far…which category do you belong to? Who are you really?

This message is not just about you knowing who you really are but finding out who God wants you to be. And it’s starts with a Divine relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among people by which we must be saved [for God has provided the world no alternative for salvation].” (ACTS 4:12 AMP).

“…if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”. (Romans 10:9-10 KJV)

Now Pray this prayer meaningfully:
“Lord Jesus, for too long I’ve kept you out of my life. I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. No longer will I close the door when I hear you knocking. By faith I gratefully receive your gift of salvation. I am ready to trust you as my Lord and Saviour. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for coming to earth. I believe you are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day. Thank you for bearing my sins and giving me the gift of eternal life. I believe your words are true. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, and be my Saviour. Amen”.

Congratulations if you’ve just said that prayer and welcome to the higher life in Christ Jesus.
Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
