This One Thing Is Needful For You To Do

But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
Luke 10:42 KJV

During a prayer session led by my father in the Lord; he asked us to open the Bible and to read Luke 10:38-42 as I read it I received the following understanding which I have captured in this message and I strongly believe that you will be blessed as read on in Jesus Name.

LUKE 10:38‭-‬42 AMP
38 Now while they were on their way, Jesus entered a village [called Bethany], and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home.

39 She had a sister named Mary, who seated herself at the Lord’s feet and was continually listening to His teaching.

40 But Martha was very busy and distracted with all of her serving responsibilities; and she approached Him and said, “Lord, is it of no concern to You that my sister has left me to do the serving alone? Tell her to help me and do her part.” But the Lord replied to her,

41 – 42 “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered and anxious about so many things;  but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part [that which is to her advantage], which will not be taken away from her.”
LUKE 10:38‭-‬42 AMP

Luke 10:41‭-‬42 TPT
The Lord answered her, “Martha, my beloved Martha. Why are you upset and troubled, pulled away by all these many distractions? Are they really that important?  Mary has discovered the one thing most important by choosing to sit at my feet. She is undistracted, and I won’t take this privilege from her.”
Luke 10:41‭-‬42 TPT

Luke 10:41‭-‬42 NLT
But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:41‭-‬42 NLT

We can surmise the following from Scripture that:

– It is possible to welcome God into our homes but not into our hearts.
– We cannot assume to know what God desires of us, and we must be diligent to find out.
– We cannot disrespectfully assume that it is what we want to do that ought to please God.. “Martha approached Jesus and said, “Lord, is it of no concern to You that my sister has left me to do the serving alone? Tell Mary to help me and do her part.”” But rather we should make it a respectful priority to find out from God…especially if we are doing it for God.
– Anything and whatever, no matter what, however seemingly good that would take us away from God is never and would never be God’s best choice for us.
– No excuse is good enough to excuse you and I from spending time with God or not paying attention to what matters to God.

How can you be more like Mary and not Martha? According to the portion of the Bible we’ve read:

1. Seated at the Lord’s feet and continually listening to His teaching, Mary chose the good part [that which was to her advantage].

2. Mary discovered the one thing that was the most important. She was undistracted and it was to her a privilege.

You must Make a decision from today if you have not already done so to
– Seperate from what seperates you from God.
– Give time and attention to spending more time in God’s presence.
– Give time and attention to praying, studying the Bible, fellowshiping with people who love God and are called according to His purpose, and be committed to your local Church where you know you are receiving Divine sustenance from.

Hebrews 11:6 KJV
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Choose the good part, choose what is most needful, which it is to spend more time in communion with God and it will be to you a Divine privilege and advantage. God is truly a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Giving your whole to God should put you ahead of contemporaries, not come behind in life” – Rev. Olusola A. Areogun https://lifeoasisinternationalchurch.org/

PSALMS 16:11 AMP “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore”.

Let us pray:
God and Father please deliver us from things that keep us too busy from spending quality time with you. Help us to bring pleasure to You in all we think, say and do in the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen!

Song:
Worship is what I’m made for. Praising You is what I live for. To you Almighty to God, I give my All…

I give my heart, my dance and song. Glorifying You unto my knees I fall…

In Your presence o Lord that is where I always long and love to be!
