John 3:16-17 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
16 For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.
17 For God did not send the Son into the world in order to judge (to reject, to condemn, to pass sentence on) the world, but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him.
John 1:12-13 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
12 But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His Name —
13 Who owe their birth neither to bloods nor to the will of the flesh [that of physical impulse] nor to the will of man [that of a natural father], but to God. [They are born of God!]

For as many as did receive and welcome Jesus the unique Son of God, as Saviour and Lord, the same Jesus gave them power (authority, right, privilege, ability, capacity, capability,
potential, potentiality, faculty, property, competence, competency) to become the children of God.
In other words one could say that those who reject and do not welcome and recieve Jesus do not have the power nor right nor the privilege nor the ability to become a child of God.
Anyone who claims to know God or say they have a relationship with God or have a religion, or a belief system but has not accepted Jesus as Saviour and Lord cannot claim to be a child of God.
And anyone who outrightly refuses Jesus has condemned himself not only to never becoming a child of God but has willingly entered a contract with satan to be prepared a room in hell for eternity i.e. if such never repents.
John 3:18-20 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
18 He who believes in Him [who clings to, trusts in, relies on Him] is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; for him there is no rejection, no condemnation—he incurs no damnation]; but he who does not believe (cleave to, rely on, trust in Him) is judged already [he has already been convicted and has already received his sentence] because he has not believed in andtrusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ’s name.]
19 The [basis of the] judgment (indictment, the test by which men are judged, the ground for the sentence) lies in this: the Light has come into the world, and people have loved the darkness rather than and more than the Light, for their works (deeds) were evil.
20 For every wrongdoer hates (loathes, detests) the Light, and will not come out into the Light but shrinks from it, lest his works (his deeds, his activities, his conduct) be exposed and reproved.
Through our recieving of Christ Jesus as Saviour and Lord we embark on a Divine destiny that God as afore-planned before we were formed in the womb. And the fulfilment of that Divine destiny involves walking the path (His plans and purposes) that God has set before us in life. And assuredly the path of God always leads one into higher things of God and onto a higher place with God.
Jeremiah 1:5 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
5 Before I formed you in the womb I knew [and] approved of you [as My chosen instrument], and before you were born I separated and set you apart, consecrating you; [and] I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.
Your God ordained journey in life and destiny does not begin until you fulfilled the conditions in Romans 10: 9-10.
Romans 10:9-10 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
9 Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation.
The trigger for becoming a child of God begins with being born-again by the conviction of the Holy Spirit and the sincere confessing with your mouth and the receiving of Jesus the Son of God (Who came on earth and died for your sins and mine because we could never have saved ourselves) into your heart. One of the evidence that a genuine becoming has been triggered is a Divine transformation that starts from within and manifests outward.
Jesus Christ is our pattern for life and godliness. There are paths in arriving at destiny that He travelled that we who have been given the power to become must also travel.
Luke 3:21-23 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
21 Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized, and [while He was still] praying, the [visible] heaven was opened
22 And the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came from heaven, saying, You are My Son, My Beloved! In You I am well pleased and find delight!
23 Jesus Himself, when He began [His ministry], was about thirty years of age, being the Son, as was supposed, of Joseph, the son of Heli…
Jesus was baptized not only of water but the Holy descended upon Him and God ordained Him into ministry with a statement of approval.
Understand that God is Alpha and Omega. He who is at the beginning and is also at the end. When God speaks He is not speaking of just the beginning but with the ending also in mind.
Revelation 1:8 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
8 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, says the Lord God, He Who is and Who was and Who is to come, the Almighty (the Ruler of all).
When God said of Jesus – my Son in whom I am well pleased. He knew what destiny Jesus must fulfill…God was fully aware of the perils Jesus would face. And what did the Holy Spirit do next. He delivered Jesus to be assessed to check if He had become.
Luke 4:1-13 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
4 Then Jesus, full of and controlled by the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led in [by] the [Holy] Spirit
2 For (during) forty days in the wilderness (desert), where He was tempted (tried, tested exceedingly) by the devil. And He ate nothing during those days, and when they were completed, He was hungry.
3 Then the devil said to Him, If You are the Son of God, order this stone to turn into a loaf [of bread].
4 And Jesus replied to him, It is written, Man shall not live and be sustained by (on) bread alone but by every word and expression of God.
5 Then the devil took Him up to a high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the habitable world in a moment of time [in the twinkling of an eye].
6 And he said to Him, To You I will give all this power and authority and their glory (all their magnificence, excellence, preeminence, dignity, and grace), for it has been turned over to me, and I give it to whomever I will.
7 Therefore if You will do homage to andworship me [just once], it shall all be Yours.
8 And Jesus replied to him, Get behind Me, Satan! It is written, You shall do homage to and worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.
9 Then he took Him to Jerusalem and set Him on a gable of the temple, and said to Him, If You are the Son of God, cast Yourself down from here;
10 For it is written, He will give His angels charge over you to guard and watch over you closely and carefully;
11 And on their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.
12 And Jesus replied to him, [The Scripture] says, You shall not tempt (try,
test exceedingly) the Lord your God.
13 And when the devil had ended every [the complete cycle of] temptation, he [temporarily] left Him [that is, stood off from Him] until another more opportune and favorable time.
I am not sure how many times after this event in Luke chapter 4 that the Holy Spirit would instigate a similar assessment. But I can boldly say without any shadow of doubt that Jesus did not fail any.
It is only those who truly becoming who they must be in God (the chosen of God, the elects of God): through the understanding and application of the power that they have been given by Jesus Christ that can boldly and meaningfully make following statement:
Romans 8:33-35 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect [when it is] God Who justifies [that is, Who puts us in right relation to Himself? Who shall come forward and accuse or impeach those whom God has chosen? Will God, Who acquits us?]
34 Who is there to condemn [us]? Will Christ Jesus (the Messiah), Who died, or rather Who was raised from the dead, Who is at the right hand of God actually pleading as He intercedes for us?
35 Who shall ever separate us from Christ’s love? Shall suffering and affliction and tribulation? Or calamity and distress? Or persecution or hunger or destitution or peril or sword?
The power to become takes you through the process to become and there would be an assessment of whether you are truly becoming.
God announced Jesus as the Son in Whom He is well pleased in Luke 3 and in Luke 4 right after Jesus’s baptism the Holy Spirit led him into the wilderness to be tested. Revelation 22:14 -15, mentioned 2 categories of people; the blessed (the ones who became) and the cursed (those who did not).
Revelation 22:13-15 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last (the Before all and the End of all).
14 Blessed (happy and to be envied) are those who cleanse their garments, that they may have the authority and right to [approach] the tree of life and to enter through the gates into the city.
15 [But] without are the dogs and those who practice sorceries (magic arts) and impurity [the lewd, adulterers] and the murderers and idolaters and everyone who loves and deals in falsehood (untruth, error, deception, cheating).
Jesus needed the Holy Spirit and we also do very much. Although we who have accepted Christ Jesus have been given the power to become. We must need go through the assessment of what we have become. It is not enough to say I have the power to become without being an active participant with the Holy Spirit to truly become.
Romans 8:11-13 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
11 And if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, [then] He Who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also restore to life your mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you.
12 So then, brethren, we are debtors, but not to the flesh [we are not obligated to our carnal nature], to live [a life ruled by the standards set up by the dictates] of the flesh.
13 For if you live according to [the dictates of] the flesh, you will surely die. But if through the power of the [Holy] Spirit you are [habitually] putting to death (making extinct, deadening) the [evil] deeds prompted by the body, you shall [really and genuinely] live forever.
If the same Holy Spirit who led Christ into the wilderness and also raised Him from the dead dwells in you…If and then…this is the proof…through the power of the [Holy] Spirit you are [habitually] putting to death (making extinct, deadening) the [evil] deeds prompted by the body, and you shall [really and genuinely] live forever.
One who is harnessing the power given by Christ to him or her to become will not stop at mere confession but will go on to live day to day actively doing and the fruits of his or her life demonstrating the proof of the becoming the child of God.
Matthew 7: 16-18 Amplified Classic Edition (AMPC) 16 You will fully recognize them by their fruits. Do people pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every healthy (sound) tree bears good fruit [worthy of admiration], but the sickly (decaying, worthless) tree bears bad (worthless) fruit. 18 A good (healthy) tree cannot bear bad (worthless) fruit, nor can a bad (diseased) tree bear excellent fruit [worthy of admiration].
Grace is the divine assistance of the Holy Spirit not for us to make a small thing of Salvation, rather to work out as if in the gym of the Kingdom of God on earth our new status in Christ who gave us power to become through Salvation.
Our day to day consciously and actively working out (cultivating, training to the max, carrying out divine assignments, pressing forward to fully fulfil God’s calling on our life) is us becoming.
Philippians 2:12Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
12b. …Work out (cultivate, carry out to the goal, and fully complete) your own salvation with reverence and awe and trembling (self-distrust, with serious caution, tenderness of conscience, watchfulness against temptation, timidly shrinking from whatever might offend God and discredit the name of Christ).
Answer me this:
1. Do you have the power to become?
Because only those who have accepted Jesus as Saviour and Lord have been given the power to become.
2. If you have the power to become, what are you doing with it?
3. Are you going through the process of becoming and passing your assessments with flying colours?
God our Father and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ has faith in us to go on to become a privileged and trusted child ( a son) whom He can say like He said of Jesus – “this is my son in whom I am well pleased”. That is God’s heart for us and He has not left us without help. We have the Holy Spirit.
John 14:26 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
26 But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.
Becoming the child of God essentially requires that one be born-again and then be led by the Holy Spirit into the maturity of sonship.
Romans 8:14 AMPC
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
Romans 8:15 AMPC
For [the Spirit which] you have now received [is] not a spirit of slavery to put you once more in bondage to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption [the Spirit producing sonship] in [the bliss of] which we cry, Abba (Father)! Father!
Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit and He became the Father-pleasing Son that God called Him to be. May we also through the power-to-become that we have been Divinely endowed with fufil our God-given Destinies in Jesus Name. Amen!
Glory be to God in the highest!

If you are not already born-again and you have recieved the conviction of the Holy Spirit to…with a clear understanding that you will not begin to become anything in God except you recieve Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord…
Then pray this prayer with all sincerity:

But Jesus died for me, He shed His blood that I might be saved, today I accept Jesus as my personal Lord and saviour, forgive me all my sins, wash me with your blood and make me whole. I forsake the devil, the world and all sinful habits, I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Father I thank you because you have saved me in Jesus name.
