The Blessedness of Correct Parenting

Deuteronomy 6:4 -7 New King James Version (NKJV) 4 “Hear, O Israel: [a]The Lord our God, the Lord is one!
5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.
7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

Note: Deuteronomy 6:4 Or The Lord is our God, the Lord alone, i.e. the only one

“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.
You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up”.

(Deuteronomy 6:4 -7) In this Chapter and verses are the workings that makes the covenant (which began with Abraham) of God over Israel to manifest powerfully. Through Jesus Christ we have access to the same blessings of Abraham.

Galatians 3:14‭, 16 AMPC To the end that through [their receiving] Christ Jesus, the blessing [promised] to Abraham might come upon the Gentiles, so that we through faith might [all] receive [the realization of] the promise of the [Holy] Spirit. Now the promises (covenants, agreements) were decreed and made to Abraham and his Seed (his Offspring, his Heir). He [God] does not say, And to seeds (descendants, heirs), as if referring to many persons, but, And to your Seed (your Descendant, your Heir), obviously referring to one individual, Who is [none other than] Christ (the Messiah). [Gen. 13:15; 17:8.]

The conditions in Deuteronomy 6: 4 -7 has not changed but we are marvelously helped by the Holy Spirit (if we would consciously partner with Him) to fulfill these conditions.

Our love for God must be phenomenal. It must be with all our heart, all our mind and all our bodies…not holding back on anything. All to Jesus surrendered. And if our love for God has any depth to it, it ought to be generational-progressive.

Isaiah 54:13 AMPC
And all your [spiritual] children shall be disciples [taught by the Lord and obedient to His will], and great shall be the peace and undisturbed composure of your children. [John 6:45.]

Our children are taught of the Lord in Jesus Name and we must not just teach in words only but become a living model (practise what you teach) for them:

1. Such that the beauty of God’s Divine parenting is expressed to them through us.
2. That the Truth and Power of the Word is consistently visible in our lives.
3. And the Helper the sweet Holy Spirit is introduced to them as a Person and not something.

For I have known (chosen, acknowledged) him [as My own], so that he may teach and command his children and the sons of his house after him to keep the way of the Lord and to do what is just and righteous, so that the Lord may bring Abraham what He has promised him.
Genesis 18:19 AMPC

In Christ Parenting is:
1. A ministry.
2. A calling.
3. Stewardship.
4. Accountable to God.

We can see in Genesis 18:19 that the major qualification of Abraham for the manifestation of the promises of God was based on correct parenting.

Correct parenting according to God is one where our children young and matured are taught to:

Keep the way of the Lord by
1. Doing what is Just
2. Doing what is righteous

God wants us to train our children and future family to observe God’s way of life, live kindly and generously and fairly.

Our children are taught of the Lord in Jesus Name and we must not just teach in words only but become a living model (practise what you teach) for them.

The greatest failure of parenting as a Christian is producing children that have no reverence for God nor for the things of God. Worse still a fool of a child.

1 Samuel 8:1‭-‬3 AMPC
WHEN SAMUEL was old, he made his sons judges over Israel. Now the name of his firstborn was Joel and the name of his second, Abijah. They were judges in Beersheba. His sons did not walk in his ways, but turned aside after gain, took bribes, and perverted justice.

THE [empty-headed] fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable deeds; there is none that does good or right. [Rom. 3:10.]
Psalm 14:1 AMPC

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. [Deut. 28:4.] As arrows are in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. Happy, blessed, and fortunate is the man whose quiver is filled with them! They will not be put to shame when they speak with their adversaries [in gatherings] at the [city’s] gate.
Psalm 127:3‭-‬5 AMPC

Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a real blessing.
Psalms 127:3 GNB

Children are a gift from God and the fruit of the Womb is His reward. The Holy Spirit helping us we Christian parents will always demonstrate to God how much we treasure His gifts by following His instruction and directions on parenting them correctly. In Jesus Name. Amen.

For examples of bad parenting, bad children and the consequences in the Bible see below:

1 Samuel 2:22‭-‬25 AMPC
Now Eli was very old, and he heard all that his sons did to all Israel and how they lay with the women who served at the door of the Tent of Meeting. And he said to them, Why do you do such things? For I hear of your evil dealings from all the people. No, my sons; it is no good report which I hear the Lord’s people spreading abroad. If one man wrongs another, God will mediate for him; but if a man wrongs the Lord, who shall intercede for him? Yet they did not listen to their father, for it was the Lord’s will to slay them.

1 Samuel 2:29‭-‬30‭, ‬33‭-‬34 AMPC
Why then do you kick [trample upon, treat with contempt] My sacrifice and My offering which I commanded, and honor your sons above Me by fattening yourselves upon the choicest part of every offering of My people Israel? Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, says, I did promise that your house and that of your father [forefather Aaron] should go in and out before Me forever. But now the Lord says, Be it far from Me. For those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed. Yet I will not cut off from My altar every man of yours; some shall survive to weep and mourn [over the family’s ruin], but all the increase of your house shall die in their best years. [I Sam. 22:17-20.] And what befalls your two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, shall be a sign to you–in one day they both shall die. [Fulfilled in I Sam. 4:17, 18.]

1 Samuel 3:13‭-‬14 AMPC
And I [now] announce to him that I will judge and punish his house forever for the iniquity of which he knew, for his sons were bringing a curse upon themselves [blaspheming God], and he did not restrain them. Therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be atoned for or purged with sacrifice or offering forever.

2 Kings 21:1‭-‬16 AMPC
MANASSEH WAS twelve years old when he began his fifty-five-year [wicked] reign in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hephzibah. He [Hezekiah’s son] did evil in the sight of the Lord, after the [idolatrous] practices of the [heathen] nations whom the Lord cast out before the Israelites. For he built up again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Baal and made an Asherah, as did Ahab king of Israel, and worshiped all the [starry] hosts of the heavens and served them! And he built [heathen] altars in the house of the Lord, of which the Lord said, In Jerusalem will I put My Name [and the pledge of My presence]. And he [good Hezekiah’s son] built altars for all the hosts of the heavens in the two courts of the house of the Lord! And he made his son pass through the fire and burned him as an offering [to Molech]; he practiced soothsaying and augury, and dealt with mediums and wizards! He did much wickedness in the sight of the Lord, provoking Him to anger. He made a graven image of [the goddess] Asherah and set it in the house, of which the Lord said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, will I put My Name [and the pledge of My presence] forever; And I will not cause the feet of Israel to wander any more out of the land which I gave their fathers, if only they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them and according to all the law that My servant Moses commanded them. But they would not listen; and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than the nations did whom the Lord destroyed before the Israelites! And the Lord said through His servants the prophets: Because Manasseh king of Judah has committed these abominations, and has done wickedly above all that the Amorites did who were before him, and has made Judah also to sin with his idols, Therefore thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whoever hears of it, both his ears shall tingle! And I will stretch over Jerusalem the measuring line of Samaria and the plummet of the house of Ahab; and I will wipe Jerusalem as one wipes a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down. And I will cast off the rest of My inheritance and deliver them into the hands of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies, For they have done evil in My sight and have provoked Me to anger since their fathers came out of Egypt to this day. Moreover, Manasseh shed very much innocent blood, filling Jerusalem from one end to another–besides his sin in making Judah sin, by doing evil in the sight of the Lord! [II Chron. 33:1-10.]
