Mind What You Are Minding

Mind what you are minding, Over-thinking is not of God

Life Tip – Avoid over-thinking, it makes you mentally, physically and spiritually unhealthy; rather cast your cares, (burdens, issues,…) big or small, unto Jesus, because God cares about you.

Mind What You’re Minding

Psalm 55:22 KJV
Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

1 Peter 5:7 KJV
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

The above scriptures give us a clear instruction to cast off our burdens and let God handle them in Christ Jesus. But many at times what we do is to hold on to them and mentally dwell on them even when we are aware that we are not supposed to as we do not have the power to carry or deal with them. Many of us choose to think our way out of situations and most end up over-thinking into depression and frustration.

Over-thinking is one of the top causes of anxiety and depression; for some people it has been known to lead on to self-harm and suicide. Stop thinking too much about that issue before you create a problem that wasn’t even there in the first place. If you discover that your thoughts are unfruitful or that it starts paralysing you with fear, they are definitely NOT of God. STOP! Let ’em go!

No matter what the enemy is making you think with its constant dark whispering, in Christ Jesus, you are the master of your thoughts and it is in your power to choose what you focus your thoughts on. Be vigilant and resist the thought attacks of the enemy of your soul.

James 4:7 KJV Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

The Word of God has helped us to narrow down what we should fill our minds with and I must say a daily practice of meditating upon them will definitely keep you mentally healthy

Philippians 4:8 KJV “…whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things”

At first it might be a bit of struggle or almost a battle to align your thoughts as instructed in the scripture above, but consistency does eventually pay off. And never forget there is help for you in Christ Jesus through the Holy Spirit, “just a prayer away”.

Hebrews 4:16 NIV
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Finally beloved,
Philippians 4: 6, 7 CEV
Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God. Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel.

Amen!
